Better grip in the heel, better lateral stability.To be fair, I'm returning to the Lone Peaks after several years away. I think my last pair were 4 or 5's.I hear the 9 is also their most durable generation yet. Can't speak to that, but they are the most comfortable Lone Peaks I've owned and perform very well on trail - great grip and very nimble.

Great trail running shoes that can fit lots of other uses. I’ll be taking these on international trips in place of my Hokas because they are lower profile but have the traction and width that I need to walk or hike comfortably. These are replacing my Salomon’s because unfortunately, their width is just not enough for me and I get hotspots. Not with these shoes. I was initially worried about the ‘foot shape’ coming off as awkward looking, but they look great.

I love theses shoes. I’ve had several models for the past 3-4 years. These ones are good. Love the zero drop and wide toe box. Not good for rough terrain as my heel slips a bit, but for chill hikes and walks on trails they’re great. Also love these as my go-to work shoes (I have a pair for work and a pair for fun). Size seems pretty true to size. Their durability isn’t stellar, but I don’t mind because I like everything else about them.

Took these shoes straight out of the box and then proceeded to climb all around Enchanted Rock in Austin, TX and biked Spider Mountain and put many miles in rugged terrain on these shoes. The grip was fantastic, the look is great, and the fit is perfect. I am used to zero drop shoes, so I had no problem with these and believe they're better for your Achilles and feet anyway. I have only had them for a few days so i can't speak for the durability, but they held up over 3 days of rough days in the mud, heat, and rain. Would buy again.I did not buy these as running shoes, so I can't speak to that aspect of them. But as low profile, grippy trail shoes, wonderful!

If you already love Altra's, these are just as great. I am doing about 30-40 miles per week in them on technical Northern AZ trails as well as a little bit on roads. I have had NO issues with durability like others are saying. I actually have never had an issue with my Altra's. Fit is perfect, as long as you understand how Altra's are supposed to fit; wide toe box, etc. My training with these shoes continues!

These fit me, and are comfortable. I've been buying them since Lone Peak 2. Each generation seems to cut a few more corners, and gets more expensive. If they lasted more then three or four months, they would get higher marks. Both the uppers and the soles seem to be designed so one has to keep on buying new shoes.

Altra Lone Peaks are great shoes. However, the pair I just received were obviously worn on an asphalt surface. The 'new' orange treads are marked with black oil stains. I'm guessing someone took them for a few mile road walk or run and then returned them "as new".

Es ist unglaublich schwer, gute Wanderschuhe zu finden, die zu Spreizfüßen passen und auch noch eine griffige Sohle haben, vorallem da man ja einiges an Kilometer in unwegsamen Gelände zurücklegt. Die breite Zehenbox ist traumhaft.Geschnitten ist der Schuh wie ein Barfußschuh und hat keine Sprengung. Die Sohle federt aber leicht und fühlt sich angenehm weich an, ohne eine komische Passform vorzugeben. Zumindest bei meinen Füßen.Schon neu haben sie sich beim Wandern gut angefühlt, ich kann es kaum erwarten, wenn sie richtig eingelaufen sind.
Very comfortable!
The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars because of the colour. The options in my size were a light grey which I bought or a very light outhouse green.I would have liked the dark navy that were a fair bit more expensive but not available in 12.5.These shoes have a lot of cushioning and at first did feel like they took more energy to walk in than my cheap Whitin running shoes.
