My AC works fine, blows cold air in my 10sq ft by 12sq ft bedroom. Assembly was pretty straightforward and I'm an older woman, I managed to assemble it within an hour. Everything snaps into place you just need a little patience and dexterity. The water drainage works fine. I have a 5 gallon bucket and it fills up to less than 1/4 of it in the course of a day. You may want to buy some air conditioner foam to seal in any openings when installing the window slider or use window weather sealing tape to seal out the heat. I have had no problems with anything coming undone once it was properly snaped into place. I think it's pretty decent for the price. My only complaint would be that it has shut off by itself a couple of times but that may be due to reaching the level of coolness in the room. I will have to do more research about the problem and try to find a solution, if it is a problem.I will update if I find anymore problems. So far so good.Update: I googled why it shuts off by itself. It said that once the room reaches the desired temperature the compressor will turn off to conserve energy, this is a normal function of the unit it said. It will turn on again though. Also...I noticed it didn't shut off at all when the outside temps were 80 degrees or higher all day. (Glad to know it's not a malfunction of the unit, but just a normal function of the unit.) Yay! :)
5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GREAT AIR CONDITIONER! MUCH BETTER THAN YOU CAN GET AT LOCAL STORES.
I needed a stand-up air conditioner for cooling a room where I have solar inverters and other equipment that handles the solar power system electrical output to my home. Some of the equipment kicks out a lot of heat and I had been using an evaporative cooler for cooling. I live in a desert area that is typically dry and hot. However, from about mid June to late October we get what locals here refer to as a "Monsoon". The air is thick and heavy with humidity and evaporative coolers all but cease to function and I was worried about the effect of the high heat as well as the humidity generated by the cooler on my electrical equipment. As I have no room for a wall mount/window air conditioner in the area where my electrical equipment is, I went looking for a stand up air conditioner at my local stores. But all that I found were overpriced and under powered units. So I bought this unit which was twice the capacity and half the price of those available in local stores. The unit performs very well and is more than adequate for my needs. If you're looking for a decent stand-up air conditioner at a reasonable price, this is the unit for you!
5.0 out of 5 stars Cool little unit
My husband is very negative about these types of Air conditioners, saying they never work as well, but I wanted to give it a try. I have to say it works really well. I have a she-shed that I work out of and so far is has kept me cool. The item arrived quick and well packed. I was able to get an installation question answered quickly via a video. Its easy to install without lifting anything and one person can do it without help. For me the window attachment is a bit too big so it needed to be cut. It sounds just like a window AC (no more or less quiet IMO). If you live in an apartment building and can't install a window unit and don't want to buy the exact AC for the wall sleeve, this would be perfect. My only request would have been a pre-drilled hole in the window attachment to easily install the continuous drain, but not a big deal. For now I have it draining into a receptical which is working fine with no leaks or excess cleanup. The unit is small, light, moves around easily on wheels and the remote is great. Thanks.
4.0 out of 5 stars Icey air pouring out, needed tweaks/additional tools for my window
Had this about a week so may edit later. For now, found the instructions straightforward, have it set on 69F, low speed and icy air is pouring out. Guessing my modest mid home level is ~400 square feet with a wall/bathroom sort of cutting space in half, so it's not freezing the whole space. Air flow getting a boost around the walls with two rather excellent Bolo 12 speed oscillating fans. It is not single handedly cooling the upstairs and downstairs which was expected. Able to mostly cool designated space to comfortable temperature (but again in my case there is a wall in the middle of the space, more or less. Interestingly tho cool air seems to be flowing sideways a bit as well as from the front of the unit, maybe because of the fans.Noise level IMO at low speed a nice whooshing like being in an airplane. Weight is not too bad and smartly placed handles. Rolls on a hard floor easily. Including a tool and quick start guide was nice.Overall comments on this unit and the others I own -1) After wrestling one way or the other with 4 different company AC units (Della, Insignia, Black and Decker, and this one), none of the included sliding plates fit, and all needed to be cut down to fit within the window frame. Including this one. Anyway Bolo sells excellent replacement accessory portable AC kits which I've found at times to better than the original. Cutting PVC irritating but manage with heavy industrial shears.2) The included vent hose works but IMO is both thin, and hard to deal with *cheap*. I was much happier replacing with a new hose from the 2-pack (2 Pack Portable Air Conditioner Exhaust Vent Hose, Universal Flexible AC Hose with 5.9" Diameter, Anti-Clockwise Thread, Length up to 79" by Kalkehay brand) which has the right thickness but flexible. Either with the original or the replacement, yes, putting on the window vent and outlet vent is fiddly. Once it gets going, screw, screw and then - duct tape is your best friend. I tape both hose ends to the respective vent plate/nozzle so the hose doesn't pull out of either. Life is good then.3) I ignored instructions to use window sealing on the windows as I don't want adhesive pads on the window sill. Instead I carefully put weather sealing around the AC window plate (once I have the length right) and tape in/stuff in air conditioner foam besides. Various kinds of weather sealing and rolls of air conditioning foam are also my friend. Also - my windows have a sort of "bottom lip" and the exit nozzle is bumped up and out of the window plate socket hole. So I have to raise up where I insert the window plate by about 1.5". A thick strip of air conditioning foam works for this, but a 1.5-2" thick wood strip would work too. Or maybe a cut down pool noodle. Then the window can be closed down against the AC plate holding the exhaust hose.Overall, so far, for a more inexpensive portable AC to tide me over (as well as the others I own) so far, it's fine, has some nice features like the compactness and sensible directions. But, if I hadn't already run the gauntlet last year of dealing with the window plates, vent hoses, etc. and had a selection of tools on hand, and extra stuff, I would have been less sanguine. Will edit this review if there are issues as summer goes on.For now, depending, for any portable AC suggest duct tape (critical); measuring and something that will cut PVC (heavy shears, saw or other); various foam and weather stripping; possibly a vent hose blanket for insulating the vent hose if needed; air conditioner or pet tray in case of a leak. Window locks, depending, or bars for security as needed. Finally, I haven't run any of my units at top speed and never have anything else plugged into an outlet where the AC unit is plugged into. So far haven't tripped any breakers. But with this and other units also note clearance is needed away from the unit vents and possibly warm hose, like installing a refrigerator, sort of.
