Seriously modernized the infotainment and I couldn’t be happier. The 12 inch screen is sharp, brighter than the old lcd 10inch from 2014 and slightly larger. That alone is already a worth while upgrade to me.I chose this Linux based system as the android car systems are sometimes buggy and just way too unnecessarily complex. This Boots up quickly and connects flawlessly over wireless CarPlay. 2 usb ports for wired CarPlay and powered accessories (handy , I used for a dashcam).Another review mentioned that it didn’t register their 360 cam or sensors automatically. There’s a setting for “ front camera detect” that fixes this.I’ve used it for a few months and it’s awesome. The original OEM idrive is retained , no engine codes or errors. Another handy tip is that you can hold down the menu button and it will take you straight into the system. The idrive wheel works in the unit.I have my phone connected to the car Bluetooth for calls. And this CarPlay system for music, this works better for me as the mic in the head unit isn’t as clear as the multi mic unit in the oem system. Best of both worlds.Installation isn’t hard. One of the easier systems to put in. I routed the usb cables to the driver foot well area.

I would give the product 5 stars, but front camera doesn't turn on with the parking sensors activate. Reverse camera works flawlessly. If there is a work around, let everyone know in a reviews.Other than that, the Youtube videos to remove the X5 dash and how to install this unit is great. It takes less than hour to install following these.Boot up time and connection are very fast. Same as current screen that comes with the X5, maybe a little faster. This unit isn't customizable much, as its Linux based, but if you looking to add carplay or android Auto, this works great. I like the simplicity.I did by an android version for $150 more and wasn't worth it to me. The boot up time was 2x slower vs. Linux. You can access the G APP Store (which I don't need), has GPS (I use Carplay so don't need), has Sim slot (cost monthly and have my phone, so don't need) and is more customizable (not a deal breaker over Linux), but performance was a little sluggish compared to the Linux version.If you want G App Store/GPS/Sim slot and customization, get android, if you want faster boot times and a simple interface with Carplay and Android auto, grab a Linux version.1/17/25: It is less expensive on Walmart ($249) and their site direct ($219). I realized this after I purchase.

Carplay and Original BMW iDrive Interface seem work well. Need test/play more. Manual is not comprehensive and accurate especially for additional aftermarket cameras' wirings' labeling words not matching the ones in the manual. No instruction how to use and manage the aftermarket cameras/DVR.

Got this installed with no issues. The big screen is nice and fits the car well not looking too big.Really easy to install if you are somewhat detail oriented and also there are numerous youtube videos that show the same process even for different brands. Make sure the wiring harness is snugly puushed in and test before you put everything back together. Follow the steps closely and your older BMW can have a nice large screen with all of the latest features. I'm happy so far.

Easy install , there is someone who has exact same unit in his YouTube install video.. but I watched several! Took about 30 minutes ! Unit retains all factory bmw control and is awesome once setup all the way. Does everything they show it does🙏

Some issues synching with Bluetooth. But otherwise it's great! Have to reset bluetooth each time it starts up. Might be operator error. Also user manual is very limited. Doesn't explain much about product features.
