Made adjustments as suggested in the instructions based on hair type. My son has very thick, bone straight hair, so I left the neutralizer on longer based on his hair type as the box suggested longer neutralizer process time for thicker or more resistant hair types.We rolled the hair in the smallest, red perm rods, using end papers in the hair rolling step. We researched various roller placement patterns and chose a rolling pattern to best fit how he wanted his curls to look.Once rolled in the desired layout pattern, we placed cotton around the front of the hair line and in between the section of hair to be permed and the hair to be left natural (he only wanted the top fringe curled). Mixed the tube labeled, "part A" into the bottle labeled, "part B" and shook vigorously. Generously applied the solution to each rod of rolled hair. Wrapped, covered, the hair in a processing cap. Cheap, plastic like, one use disposable cap. Processing time is normally around 20 minutes, but as his hair is thick, and bone straight, we left it for 30 minutes in the cap to process with his body heat. As instructed, we rinsed the hair, with curling rods left in, and intact, for 5 full minutes thoroughly rinsing each rod of hair with warm water. Gently blotted it with a towel, not scrubbing. Blot, just press towel gently and firmly on hair, careful to not compromise hair in the rods. Leave rods in still. Then generously applied the neutralizer to each individual rod of hair. Box states to let the neutralizer sit for 5 minutes or longer for certain hair types. We let sit for 15 minutes. Then applied neutralizer over the entire head, working with fingers through the hair. Let sit for 5 more minutes. Finally, removed the rollers carefully and gently, and rinsed with warm water for 5 more minutes. Blot dried the hair with a new towel. Let air dry. Do not wash or submerge hair in water for 48 hours afterwards. It turned out great, my son loves it. Yes, it does have a strong smell. I already knew it would beforehand. All perms have a sulfuric odor, but that is normal, they all have some degree of odor, nothing you can do about that regardless of what product you buy. Use common sense, follow the instructions, look up rod placement patterns, look up rod sizes and consider your hairs length and type of curls you're wanting, watch tutorials, read hair type suggestions on each perm solution box, select a perm solution best suited for your hair type, not all perm solutions are the same in terms of hair types, bleached, or color treated hair.

I still used what was in there and the perm worked fairly well..
