5.0 out of 5 stars Easily the best arm for the price point

    M. · February 13, 2024

I ordered one of these arms to use on a humanoid robot I’m building. Upon unboxing, it was up and ready to use via the Wi-Fi interface in under 2 minutes. It’s a good size with solid human comparable reach and just in a quick test it could pick up a game controller (by the wire) at full extension with no problem. The mount holding the LED also offers possibilities for adding cameras to the end effectors which is a bonus. This is easily the best robotic arm I’ve seen at this price point. Highly recommend.Just be aware the documentation is on waveshares website as there are no instructions in the box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice robot arm for the price, good hobby starter

    D.W. · July 6, 2025

I bought this just for a hobby. Luckily it comes pre-assembled so I just had to mount it to one of my tables. For what it does, I really like it. The web based control is simple and to the point for just moving the arm around. I did manage to hook it to my computer using Ubuntu. It is a pretty good learning curve to lean all the things this arm can do, but for now I do look forward to it. Eventually I plan on mounting the arm to one of the UGV bases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, Strong, Expandable, and a Great Price?! This is an Amazing Robotic Arm!

    L. · March 21, 2024

This arm is beautiful, robust, and pretty amazing at this price point! It has a very smooth movements. Easily controllable via several different methods including a direct web interface via IP address as soon as you power it up. It is also expandable with sensors, cameras, and more SBuss servos. Although I did read that you will want to purchase waveshare servos to avoid any complications with compatibility however, I don't see this as an issue because their servos are strong and reasonably priced. Overall I am quite impressed with the WaveShare M2 arm!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not super impressed

    R.H. · July 6, 2024

Came in missing screws base was not attached to arm. While fixing it one of the screws stripped. Power cord is really short and couldn't reach now I need an electrician to add outlets for a dedicated circuit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Manufacturer Support Is Awful!

    C.p. · April 10, 2025

Support is awful they answer you just to tell you to wait an it takes a week to answer pretty tech savy figured alot out on my own but do not expect help from manufacturers..

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice arm, Wish I could add another two DOF.

Shipped as and received as described. Documentation could be a little better but overall, Not so bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for teaching kids as well.

My husband got this as a toy for himself and now the grandkids love to play with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars So cool...

    j.r.b. · October 3, 2024

I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet, but this is a fun project, documentation is available at the manufacturer's website, and basic controls can be used through a web browser via ip address.

Cheap for such a robot, definitely worth its price

    A. · November 21, 2024

The media could not be loaded. What would you expect for the robot which costs around 250€ ? A toy? Ordering that I was totally impressed how well the robot was developed. There's even a place for customizations - for example I have added 2 more axis - Claw tilt, rotation and the claw itself.Had problems at the start that the EOT servo was not working, but resolved that through the customer support - ordered another one and they refunded me costs of that servo. In addition, I have learned the hard way that the USB controller is just for programming and not for servos - I have burned it. Now I know that to control the arm it's better to use external power. But even with that it works perfect.I've added OTA Updates to the firmware, couple of new JSON commands to control the claw and plan to use it in my project. If I would have more money and the v.1 of the arm would have the same controller, I would buy the first version - it looks much more reliable. But still, this one is pretty decent. Already using it like one month.

Almost scary with its speed and power

    R.g. · May 2, 2025

This arm is fairly impressive. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but it moves quite fast and has a fair bit of power to it. It is something you need to be careful with. Given that it is designed for desk mounting, you need to ensure you have a clear path around it, and that includes you - it could cause injury if you got hit in the eye or other sensitive area. It has fast rotation, and can be triggered to swing from one extreme to the other with some relatively minor changes in finger position when using the phone app. I was able to lift a desk lamp at near full extension, and while the lamp isn't super heavy, it has a weighted base and is probably near the half kilogram lifting limit.About using a phone to control this - I don't think that is the best way to control it. The controls didn't all fit on the screen nicely, at least not in some control modes, and the touch control was less than precise and prone to causing it to go from one extreme to the other if you cross the limit axis of movement (I am sure there is a better way to explain this but I don't know what it is - its rotation goes about 180° in each direction from initial reference point, but at the extremes of each direction there is a crossover point where just a tiny movement will make it do pretty much a full 360).There are a lot of options for controlling it, and I haven't dug into them yet. This will take some research and learning to really get up to speed - it has a lot of capability but while the app is fairly easy to get up to speed with, some of the more interesting options for control will require investment of more time and effort. I only plan to have one of these so I won't get to fiddle with the synchronized movement, which is a bit unfortunate, that sounds kind of neat. I may at some point try mounting this on a mobile platform, we'll see how far that goes. I do think that with the right development skills, there is quite a lot that could be done with this. It does have useful lifting power and while a mobile platform would require some design to ensure it was stable and didn't tip over, I think that could open up the applications for this quite a bit.My app testing didn't really provide a great chance to explore its precision, but when it goes back to its home position it seems to do so fairly exactly. Once I start coding it then I should be able to get a better handle on how precise and repeatable it is.If you are looking for a robot arm that can be used as more than just a toy (and I would not recommend this for young children due to the danger it poses of getting hit in the face when it swings) this could be a good choice. It certainly has potential. I can see this being handy for college robotics projects and that sort of thing.
