5.0 out of 5 stars These work GREAT!!! And no more murdered mice!
I live in the country in Illinois and I have been in this house for 13 years and I have more crazy mouse stories than could fill a book. I don't do poison, I don't do the horrific glue traps. I used the snap traps because there's no other choice they have to be controlled and I hated it. Hated doing it every time. I did have a rule if any survived the trap, they were rehabbed in and re-homed. It's a whole thing (the last one had babies). I've tried all kinds of store bought & homemade humane traps which have never - not once - ever worked. My cat does his part too. My house has been sealed & plugged everywhere but I'm in the middle of fields & some wooded shelter. Plus barns. Lots of habitats. Last week I discovered a very cute little young mouse in my pantry - which would quickly become a huge nightmare and clean up job but I hated to set a snap trap in there so I did another search for a humane trap and found these and then I found a video showing them in action which really helped me decide. $22 for 4 was well worth a try. I've had them for 3 days and I've caught 3 mice - seriously! Each safe & sound. Then I found these carriers for $6 each (used but in excellent condition also on Bolo) and got 4 so they can be temporarily housed until released. Ahhh I feel so much better not having my mouse graveyard and the wildlife food chain around here is better served w/ a better quality of life for these cute little mess makers too at least a fair shot. I use a mix of gourmet birdseed (raisins & nuts) & peanut butter as bait. I also add some extra peanut butter to the ceiling by the bait holder so they do actually get to eat while in there - plus they come in all the way to get it, which triggers the door. I got the XL size and a tiny mouse was able to trigger it. I think this bait works so well because it smells really good & attacks them.Be sure to clean any poop or pee because it could cause the floor mechanism to stick - pipe cleaner works well as does a wooden skewer. Check traps at least 1 time a day but 2 is better as it is cramped in there for bigger mice. Relocate them. Good Karma. Thank you to the designer of these!!!Update - still love these humane traps & ordered more. Tempted to place in barn to limit overall population & nests. But they broke out of the little pink carriers (in pics) in no time (I should've known better) and I kept recatching the same one before realizing it! Now I keep 5 gal buckets ready (w/ holes drilled in lids & some bedding) to temp house them before re-releasing them. I have 6 in sep buckets now (ok w/ bedding, food & water like mini pet homes until i can release them if im busy). Traps work excellent! No more evidence of mouse traffic in basement or elsewhere in house since I'm catching them & re-releasing them & breaking generation cycles. They get released into a good habitat away from other homes (& some food for the road)! š
1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money.
This trap is terrible to set and when you get it set, it wonāt trip. I left 2 out for 6 months. Neither ever tripped. There is no way a gopher is strong enough to trip one. When I put a mechanical trap in the tunnels, that got them. They were passing right through this trap. Donāt waste your money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Success!!
The trap arrived on a Friday. On Saturday one of the traps sprung, but no mole. I moved it to a new tunnel location on flatter ground and the trap was sprung Sunday morning. There was a large mole in the trap.Although the trap was easy to set on flat ground since you use your foot to set it, removing the mole was harder for my 82-year-old arthritic hands. I ended up turning the trap upside down and stepping on it. The mole was released, and I immediately reset the trap. So far I am happy with my purchase of the two pack.
4.0 out of 5 stars This trap works.
It took resetting them to different trails but if the mole goes into the trap, it gets them. Well enough that our neighbor paid him to trap them out of his yard too. I would these again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worked better than expected!
I had a suspicion we had a mouse and decided this year to be proactive (instead of waiting until I was greeted in the middle of the night by one) and get humane traps instead of killing them. I did not really expect much because of some really mixed reviews about humane traps in general. Someone said they tried the Motel Mouse one and it worked better than this type so I got both. I almost instantly put the Motel Mouse ones back in their box and am sending them back because they have a gap at the top where they can escape! These are very secure once the mouse is inside of it. There are small openings for air flow so as long as they are noticed soon enough the chances of survival is good. Please keep in mind they can chew through just about anything which includes plastic! They could eventually bite through the holes which is not avoidable so it is not a design flaw.I had these traps out for TWO days! I checked them this morning and there was nothing there. I was out all morning and when I returned in the afternoon I noticed the trap was out from under the cabinet edge. Apparently the cat was playing with the trap once the mouse was in it lol! Lil Mousey is now enjoying a field 2+ miles away from my house! It was a little tricky getting the back off to put the peanut butter in it. Took a bit for me to realize you have to push in the front of it as you pull it up.I am buying more of these to put all around the house! They cannot hurt the cat or my toddler if they accidentally go near it! That was my selling point!
3.0 out of 5 stars Couldnāt set these traps - returned them
I couldnāt set these mole traps, but I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I asked my brother if he could do it for me (heās a very strong heavy construction worker) he couldnāt set them either and heās the strongest person I know and heās never had issues with things like this. These should have been a piece of cake for someone like him. I had a couple other people I know that do similar work, none of them could set them. Itās kinda hard to catch those little creatures if you canāt even set the traps, anyway, I ended up returning them. I might have just gotten a āsetā of bad traps. If you can get them set they will probably work well. I do think that the manufacturer needs to look into that because if they are all that hard to setā¦the average person will not be able to set/use them. There were a lot of positive reviews so Iām guessing I just got a set that was bad.
5.0 out of 5 stars Kills those varmits!
A little difficult to set and release but they work well killing moles! I had the most luck when I set them up on a long straight stretch of tunnel.
