4.0 out of 5 stars a few issues with pill size and alarm sound
Update with new machine (4 week update)- The new machine is working correctly with all 28 compartments - so it was some kind of error with the first machine. Customer service was very helpful in helping us get this fix over the last few weeks - so we are change review from 3 to 4 stars. for the pill size issue, we had to move around when she takes different supplements to get them to all fit well in the slots.Update 3 weeks later- The company has reached out to me to help us try to get the device to work better for us - so I appreciate their help. The told us to adjust the ring number for different sound on alarms. The pill size is still an issue for us. She has some times that she has 7 pills - rx and supplement. the supplement sizes are just too big for that many and sometimes jam when she tries to shake them out. We still have not gotten the last day to dispense correctly - she is 4 times a day - so it should be 4 dispenses on that 7th day, but after 3 it says device is empty and goes back to the start. It also releases the last (4th med slot to her vs the 3rd) so she is getting her bedtime meds verses evening ones). This would work if she didn't have memory issues as she would realize it is the wrong dose. We now have to be physically present on the last day when her dinner meds go off. I have written the company to see if they have a way to fix this. Another issue we had this last week were several small pills going into the wrong days when she is shaking it to get the pills out - she has to shake it several times due to the supplements getting stuck. and she some how got it unlock this week while shaking. So we are considering returning it - but we arent sure what to do next as having access to all pills isn't an option anymore and being there physically 4 times a day to hand them out will be hard to accomplish. (The company is send us a new machine as it sounds like there is something faulty in the one we have).Original post -We are new to using this device - so this is to note a few issues we have noticed with initial set up and use. Our LO takes meds 4 times a day and with supplements up to 7 pills each time. The fish oil and larger supplements do not fit will in the smaller slots with that many pills. When we get them in the slots - they are hard to dump out - you have to shake it several times to get them out - which will be hard for our lO with dementia. One of the reasons we got the unit is she was leaving pills in her pill organizer and not taking them. So I am not sure this will solve that. The other thing that took me by surprise is it does not beep when it alarms for meds. It flashes and then says it is time to take you medicine. That voice repeats every minute or so - but if she isnt near the kitchen she is not going to hear it. So we are going to have to set alarms elsewhere that are at the time of the meds. So that is why I have given it 3 stars to start with. We did not have any issue connecting it to wifi or the app. App does not have a lot of instructions on using it and googling issues and questions doesnt seem to show much help so far. so we will have to play around with it. I do like that we can lock the device as another issue we have had is LO taking meds she had forgotten earlier in the day at the same time as later doses. so Hopefully this helps us with missed medicine times - if she can hear the voice telling her it is time to take her meds. And I wanted to share the review for others who may run into the same issues we have.
5.0 out of 5 stars BEST THING EVER
I purchase this for my 84 year old mother she was always worried about is it time to take her medicine she would call me often at work and there were a couple of incidents where she would sneak and take medicine before time or she would take too much medicine this device was an answer to our prayers.I was worried about my mom receiving it but she loved it.The ability to lock it with the key andto set up all her 4 doses a day for 7-Day week the way it alerts her when it's time to take her meds the way it alerts me if she misses a dose this device met all I need
1.0 out of 5 stars Great physical device, dispenses pills fine, but the notification part leaves a lot to be desired.
The unit was easy to set up. There is no APP per se. It is a device in the Smart Home control App and such, there is no way to change notifications for the unit over other devices. It has notifications for medication times and missed doses. The first are great for my mom who takes the medications but I only want to be notified when she misses a dose. The notifications are set for the app on my phone, which sound like all the other notifications I get throughout the day - no way to make them stand out with a different sound or volume, etc.Extra pill cases are available, but none come with the unit. This seems like a major mistake as when the case empties, you have to stop what you are doing and refill 28 slots with the next round of pills. When you are managing this for someone else, say an assisted living facility, that means you have to bring all the pill bottles, 28 in my case, and then refill the case in your mom's room. When we bought it several months ago, extra's were not available though Bolo nor anywhere else. BUT... when I asked the seller through Bolo, she gave me a link to order extra cases. The seemed to match the original and worked perfectly. The unit's notifications, sound and flashing light, can be set for how long to last, up to 2 hours. They do the job for my 94yo mom.Only other thing that I wish was better, is that Mom has to pick the unit up and dump the pills out. This getting more awkward for her as time goes on. She now has to use two hands to empty the pills into some container.
2.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with large soft Capsules, such as Omegas
I got this for my mom and after filling it all up, getting it connected and showing my mom how to use it, we learned that her Omegas and Areds2 pills would not come out of the slot and actually prevented other pills from dropping out. My mom turned it over 4 times to no avail, the omega pill was stuck fast. The slots are too narrow for larger pills. I wish they offered a carousel with only 14 pill compartments--I would give that a try. I like the alarm, which is a voice saying it is time to take your meds, not a high-pitched beep, which would likely result in my mom throwing it off the balcony (she's a spitfire!). Wish there was another option for this product that all my mom's pills fit in.
Good item
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Although it took a while to work it all out, the instructions were clear. The only issue was that my mum had dementia and didn’t have much dexterity in her hands, she felt unable to tip the device upside down to get all the tablets out.
Great, but needs to be plugged in, battery just for back-up
The media could not be loaded. This was somewhat larger than I was expecting but does exactly what it says it will. You can use the rings to set a different number of pills per day.In my case 3 pills taken at three times, really easy to set up with the app.The rings fit in to make sure you get the right pills in the right compartments - nothing in the red compartments. It informs you when things happen - e.g. opening the lid - lock the lid if the person taking the meds has dementia or similar. The alarm goes off and tells you to take your pills, if you ignore it, it carries on telling you for 30 minutes (which gets suitably annoying) and then sends a message to say a dose has been missed. In order to send the pill to the next one you have to turn the device upside down to dispense the pills ... onto my lap for the video...It's warm, excuse my legs - LOL.If you have a person struggling with memory and medication taking consistently this thing is marvellous with a few caveats.Someone needs to set it up for themSomeone should monitor the app to check that they are not missing dosesIt needs to be plugged in to remain charged, the battery is just for back up to retain time and date etc. There are a couple of quirks with the app, like if you change timezone you have to disconnect and reconnect to get the correct time again but I would suggest that won't happen often if the person has dementia. My dad had dementia and needed to take heart medication at regular intervals, and I think that this would have been a fantastic device to help my mum as she wouldn't have the additional stress of remembering meds (she doesn't have memory issues, just a lot on her plate). In it's place this is a great device. If there are not any memory issues but you get busy and forget, then it is also a neat device, I happily have it nagging me now for time dependant tablets.
+and - but overall, it's good stuff
Usually I'm a bit sceptic about new technology which supposedly make life easier. For taking medication we simply set the timer on phone calendar and that's it. With this new message dispensing tool, it can be blessing or struggle depends how good you or the carer is with technology.Things gets easier these days when an app does half of the job. We just need to download the Smart Life app and carefully fill up the information needed to use this pill dispenser. WiFi will be needed to connect with the dispenser via the app. There is an option to use this product without an app but the manual settings can be a bit tricky to follow, unless doing it very carefully, step by step with the manual instruction. This device needs to be connected to the cable all the time when in use so I don't know why this needs rechargeable battery? I guess, only when is power cut or when transporting it.This dispenser is a bit big but considering amount of pills it can hold, it's decent in size after all. It's made of hard plastic so it shpuld last unless dropped on the floor and is being damaged. The dispenser is secured by special key so we can open the lid only when placing the set of pills in. If we take care of someone who takes pills, then that person can't open the whole box. Only set of pills will be dispensed when it's medication time set on the app or manually on the pill dispenser. Also the buttons are protected from any mischievous behaviours. Alarm will sound when it's time for beds and if not taken the meds from the special window on the dispenser, it will notify us via app that the meds hasn't been taken and alarm will continue to sound on the dispenser.I could write and write about this product but noone would want to read that much so I just focus on the essential things. The dispenser has pill boxes and we can put few pills in one box. If taken set of pills 3 times a day, then we will need to refill the dispenser every 9 days, as it has 28 boxes only. Some people need to take beds more often, even 9 times so we need to refill the dispenser every 3 days. Not everyone will work this out how to use this device, but those who do, they will find it useful.Looking at the price tag, I wouldn't buy it myself as its expensive. But if someone takes lots of pills and needs to keep careful track on the timing, this dispenser would be really helpful. It's good quality product.
Adamson TimelyMed Smart Pill Dispenser: A Feature-Rich Option for Medication Management
The media could not be loaded. The ScoopThe Adamson TimelyMed is a smart pill dispenser with WiFi connectivity, offering remote monitoring, reminders, and medication scheduling through a free app.Key Features- Audio and visual medication reminders- WiFi app for remote monitoring and medication tracking (by caregivers)- Lock feature with keys for added security- Easy setup with the free app, and the dosage rings- 28-day medication capacityPotential Benefits- Improved medication adherence for forgetful individuals- Peace of mind for caregivers with remote monitoring capabilities- Secure medication storage with lock and 2 keys- Easy medication organisation with dosage ringsThings to Consider- Relies on WiFi connectivity (may not be suitable for all)- App functionality required for full features (may not be suitable for everyone)- The impact on medication adherence may vary depending on the individual- Although supplied with a battery, the dispenser also comes with a 2-pin 5V 2A USB-A power adapter which will require converting to a UK 3-pin plug before use. NB: 5V 2A a common power output, and you may already have a USB charger that meets the specification.- Once the dispenser is plugged in and functioning, I would suggest leaving the power adapter connected rather than rely solely on the internal battery.Overall SentimentThe Adamson TimelyMed Smart Pill Dispenser is a feature-rich option for medication management, particularly for those who need remote monitoring and medication tracking. The lock feature and clear dosage rings are some additional benefits. However, it might not be ideal for everyone due to its reliance on WiFi and app functionality. Also, I found the LCD screen somewhat dark and not easily legible in bright light, where I found myself tilting the dispenser away from the light to try and read the screen; I think this part of the dispenser could be improved with a bright OLED screen for greater clarity. Overall though, this automatic pill dispenser is a valuable tool for medication management, offering peace of mind for both users and caregivers.
such a shame....
Great idea but such a shame the unit has to be permanently plugged in. I have it set for my mum for 3 doses per day and the battery lasts under a day. i cant put it where i would like to in the house, but it is working well. the unit is rather large but not that heavy, my mum has grip problems and sometimes drops the unit when trying to tip the pills out, but so far has not broken the unit or lost her pills, time will tell on how long this is still the case, not cheap to replace if it smashers!
