Some reviewer said the flakes taste like sawdust--that made me laugh. You buy 4 lbs. without knowing what coconut flakes taste like on their own? It's not like you take a spoonful in your mouth and chomp on it for breakfast! Anyway, I got hooked on coconut at an early age--macaroons, mounds bars, coconut milk, and coconut oil. Here's my perspective: a healthy person needs a wide diversity of organic foods that are full of nutrients. Type into the internet search engine: shredded coconut flakes health benefits, and see all the nutritional benefits. The normal foods of the standard American diet are devoid of minerals (research American soil depletion), and consumers develop health issues from nutrient deficiency (and often they don't even know it). Here's my best recipe: you heat up regular milk or coconut milk, butter, heavy cream, coconut flour/flakes and add lots of organic cocoa powder and cocoa nibs, nut powder (like almond, walnut or other), crushed peanuts or pistachios, chia seeds, hemp hearts, gelatin or collagen peptides. Let it cool and cut it into pieces. Now you've got a real breakfast food that will keep you going until lunch. Please notice I didn't add any sugar--it's literally a poison for your body. Also, this stuff is perfect for a Keto diet.

I love coconut. Be it cookies, cream pies, or cakes. So I bought this bag of 4 pounds of shredded, unsweetened coconut. I have used it, so far in 2 types of coconut cookies and in four 2-layer cakes. It works beautifully. It tastes good. If you want a more moist shredded coconut, just let it soak up a little warm water, if you want it sweet and moist, let it soak up a bit of warm sugar water. Would I buy it again, yes!

These are shredded pretty coarsely, so if you need a finer grind, go elsewhere.I don't need a finer grind. My bag came fresh and bursting with flavor. Highly recommended!
