I loved it I always wanted to own it before. Like I said before I don't like streaming! I rather be an owner than a renter!

The Monster squad, a new 80's updated version of the Universal monsters, Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Wolfmanthe prologue 5mins scene at the beginning of the film is my favourite set in the 17th century i thinkdefinitely a tribute/Homage to the old Hammer Dracula filmsBrilliant performance by Actor Duncun regehr who plays Dracula, probably the best 80'S Dracula for sureAlso Great performance by Tom noonan who plays Frankenstein's monsterthis film was first released by Lionsgate on 2 Disc DVD setwith all new 75mins retrospective Documentary MONSTER SQUAD FOREVER5 featurettes that add to about 75mins can all be played together continuously or seperatly in the special features sectionnew interviews with Director Fred Dekker, Producer Johnathon zimbert, music composer Bruce broughtonsome of the special effects crew from Stan winston studio are interviewed aswellonly 2 of the Actors from the Monsters group are interviewed, Duncun regehr & Tom noonanchild Actors Andrew Gower, Ashley bank and Ryan lambert who played Rudy in the film are interviewed aswellplus Deleted scenes, 2 Audio commentary tracksand a one on one seperate interview with Actor Tom noonanwell Lionsgate have done it again but released the film on blu-ray this time ALL REGIONS to has ABC on back cover artwith a new High Definition transfer that does look more sharper & clearer in 2:35:1 widescreen better than the DVD releaseplus a new 5.1 Master audio mix which does sound alot better than the old DVD releaseplus all the special features, i mean every single extra from the 2 Disc DVD set has been carried overthe 2 Audio commentaries, the 75mins Documentary, the Deleted scenes, the Stills Gallerythe seperate interview with Tom noonan plus you get an all new HD transfer that does look amazingall this on 1 Blu-ray Disc, no extra is missing from the 2 Disc setthere is another blu-ray version by Olive films, this Olive films version is s***, has no special features at alland the picture quality is probably terribleso time to Upgrade and get this new Lionsgate blu-ray release for sure, it is hard to get a copy now ALL REGIONSso U.K. buyers can get a copy toblu-ray copies are selling from $30 and up on the Bolo listings but it's definitely worth the cash No Doubt about it5 stars i gave it worth the money

If you grew up in the 1980's, you're probably already familiar with "The Monster Squad." It's been a long time coming for this film to get the DVD treatment and I for one am glad to see it finally happen. For those not familiar with the story, here's a brief explanation: Dracula's been after an amulet that will allow the monsters of the world take over the human realm forever. Van Helsing tried to stop him many years ago but only managed to postpone his success. Now, in the present day 80's, the amulet and the book necessary to trigger it have been found. Dracula gathers up all of his monster buddies (think Universal Monsters) to help him in his quest. Luckily for us humans, young Sean Crenshaw (Andre Gower) and his monster-crazy pals are on the case. Will the Monster Squad save the day?For a flick made in the 80's, the special effects are pretty good. The monsters are especially good looking, but that's expected of the wonder that is Stan Winston. The only semi-cheesey effect is that of the vortex at the beginning and end of the film. It looks rather dated, but special effects aren't what this film is all about. It's about youngsters facing challenging odds and trying to succeed.The human cast includes Gower, Ashley Bank (Phoebe), the reliable Stephen Macht (Del), Robby Kiger (Patrick), Brent Chalem (Horace), Michael Faustino (Eugene), Ryan Lambert (Rudy) and Leonardo Cimino as the Scary German Guy. The monsters include Duncan Regehr hamming it up as Dracula, Tom Noonan as the loveable Frankenstein, and "Napoleon Dynamite's" Uncle Rico (Jon Gries) as the Desperate Man (the Wolfman's human form).Although it's considered a kids' film, "The Monster Squad" shouldn't be viewed by children under the age of nine or ten in my opinion. You're free to use your own judgment, but just know that there is quite a bit of violence including impalings, dismemberment via dynamite, people sucked into a vortex, and vehicles exploding. There is also a healthy dose of strong language, especially during a scene that will probably upset young children involving Sean's sister, Phoebe, and Dracula (it's only one word, but it's delivered with rage-filled perfection).This 20th Anniversary DVD is excellent. It brings back a lot of memories for anyone who remembers and loves this film. It includes a wonderful set of documentaries on the making of the film and the events that lead up to the DVD release. There are plenty of other features as well, but just know that Lionsgate did an outstanding job of packaging this DVD and gives the fans plenty of reasons to remember the good old days.In all honesty, the main reasons for watching this film are to get nostalgic for those of us who grew up on films like this, "The Goonies" and "Gremlins," and also to introduce the film to a whole new generation. My daughter and my brand new son are still too young to see this in my opinion, but I'll definitely introduce them to it later. This flick is a wonderful trip down memory lane and I'm sure that it will be the same for a new generation soon enough.

So happy that I got this movie in 4k!!!! The picture and audio quality are amazing! This cult classic will never get old…also included is a great documentary called Wolfmans got Nards which is really awesome!!! I remember seeing this movie for the first time on HBO in 1988 when I was 7! I remember watching it in my basement and absolutely loving it!! Then eventually it came out on VHS, if you could find a copy, and then finally dvd…and NOW 4k!!! This movie will definitely never fade out.

I hadn’t seen it in probably 30 years & I thoroughly enjoyed this film! Silly , cute , spooky, funny perfect!! Definitely recommend !! I usually purchase 4k + Blu Ray option however ,I cheaped out & went with the Blu Ray only saved nearly $20 cad . I’ll tell you it looks exceptionally good !!! 5/5 easy ! When they look this good it’s usually not a big difference between 4K & 2k . Although the other release has an extra documentary this release does not have. If you just want the movie and don’t wanna spend $50 this is a great option! I love it ! Same slipcover as the 4K copy , also has the reversible insert art work as seen in photos I’ve provided . Great deal for $28 cad. Arrived in perfect condition thank you Bolo for another successful purchase !

VHS時代に大のお気に入りだった作品です。DVD/BD版が欲しくて買いました！が、実は日本語字幕も吹替もありません。VHSがすり切れるほどに観た作品なので、台詞のやりとりは何となく分かって楽しめている私と長女ですが、まったく観たことのない次女も気に入って何度も観ています。面白い台詞で笑える所もたくさんあるのでもったいないけれど…十分楽しめて、十分泣ける感動的な面白い作品です。フランケンと友情の芽生えた末っ子の別れのシーンは、何度見ても号泣です。作品はサイコーだけど、日本語字幕がないので、残念だけど★を１つ減らしました。こんな面白いのに何で日本でDVD化されないんだろう…(涙)。【⠀追加 】後年、日本語字幕版出ました‼️

Soy fan de los clásicos de terror de los años 80's, y cuando vi que Kino Lorber había restaurado en formato 4K Ultra HD la película "The Monster Squad", la compré de inmediato.Se ve espectacular, mejor que nunca, con una calidad de imagen fuera de serie. Llegó rápido y en perfectas condiciones, lo mejor es que si traía el Slipcover de colección, y lo peor es que solo trae subtitulos en inglés.Si eres fan de estos clásicos, debes tener las películas en esta calidad 4K!
