Connects great and has a blue light option that can be turned off if needed. I actually like it better than the original Nintendo Switch dock. If you have a protective cover on your switch, this will not work, even if the original dock will. You will not get the USB connector to engage. The instructions say that, but the listing does not. One star lost because this is not in the listing. I would not deduct if I'd known in advance (but also may not have bought it).I bought a used switch so I can play remotely with my Granddaughter, but it has a battery that doesn't hold charge as well as it should . This was my solution for undocked play and it works well for that. I wouldn't replace my original dock with this, but it will also serve well as a travel dock since it will fit in my case.But if you don't have a case, or yours is easily removed for use with this, it does work especially well when playing on the built-in screen. While another reviewer says it doesn't, I found that it does charge while playing, at least when used with a PD charger with sufficient current or an original or aftermarket dedicated charger. It does so faster when it's not also drawing current to play, of course. And it holds the switch at a good angle for play with the built-in screen without the use of that terrible kickstand (which is broken on mine, anyway).

Yes it is portable since it is small but never used it for that. I hooked it up to my TV which was easy to connect but took multiple times adjusting cords to get it to work. Used off and on for a few weeks ok then it stopped connecting to the TV and will not even work as a charger for the switch. Would not recommend at all since I had to buy another kind. Worthless.
