For something rough, this clip/clamp will work fine. But I tried on the ripstop rainfly which has no grip because the teeth won't hold the slippery fabric. Be ware the upper teeth will fall off if the locking lever folding up. However, for just over $5 for 20 clips is not bad for other area usages.

These are junk don’t waste your time in two days they completely fall apart and they break plus the vendor didn’t return my money after I sent the broken ones back Bolo said I had not returned them which is bull Pucky Don’t purchase from this vendor or Bolo for that matter. It’s a racket. I had to put one star because it wouldn’t let me submit.

I was going to give them three stars for being funcional but finicky. Then I found out that they are not even that good.The jaws only open around 1/8 inch, 3/16 at the most, and you have to pull them apart and hold them open; all while keeping the lock flap at 90 degrees because moving it forward OR back pushes the jaws closed. Fine. Not as easy to just pop open and snap on as I would want, but I can live with it. Then I discovered (the hard way) that the 90 degrees that let you open the jaws to their widest ALSO lets the top jaw just...fall out. There is nothing holding it in the clip unless it is locked.If you are using these in a permanent or at most semi-permanent application they might work for you. I need something I can easily clip on and off, these aren't it.
