Beware. Be sure to check the date. Received this with a 2024/06 expiration date for glucose. For Ketones it was fine, but I needed the glucose.

I got these to do spot checks for my diabetic cat since the vet only checks him every 3 mos and said I don't need to do daily glucose testing. They seem to be giving me the info I need tho w/o a control to check it against I'm not sure it's totally accurate. As others have said, check the colors at EXACTLY 30 and 40 seconds (glucose and ketone, respectively) bc they continue to develop and if you wait, the color will be darker.

Works as intended to detect the presence of ketones and glucose in urine as a screening test. Economically priced. Great for monitoring uncontrolled diabetics for glycosuria and ketoacidosis. Very reasonably priced. Good expiration date.

I had a lot of trouble trying to get a blood sample from my cat's ear, and it was causing stress for both of us. My cat's blood glucose was not well-controlled after a couple of months of diligent insulin injections, but my vet couldn't increase the dose without testing, so they recommended these strips. It still took a while to try different dosages, but testing was better than guessing or not knowing. These strips also test for ketones, which is helpful, too. Be forewarned that, with time, testing can become more difficult if your cat is like mine and gets more stealthy about going to the litterbox without getting caught.
