I’m very happy with this tripod. I wanted something nearly unbreakable (not flimsy plastic), sturdy enough to support a phone and light, usable with a camera (having a ¼” tripod screw mount in addition to phone holder), and easy to store. This tripod fits the bill on all counts.The description says the base is “solid aluminum alloy” but I think it’s actually steel. It has some heft, and a magnet sticks to it. The bottom of the legs have four thick pads to keep the tripod stable.The description also says “the high-carbon steel gooseneck is covered in a soft polyolefin tube” but mine was black-painted steel, like the base, which is fine. The gooseneck is stiff and doesn’t bend under the weight of the phone.The phone-holding piece is attached with a metal swivel that is very easy to adjust and lock into place. The holder is plastic, and the sides are spring-loaded to grip the sides of a phone tightly. My Samsung phone just barely fit with its case on. The spring mechanism is powerful, so it's a bit tricky to load the phone without accidentally pinching fingers.For storage, the gooseneck unscrews from the base, and then the base’s legs fold inward. The components are long but are very flat, and will be easy for me to store near the back of a shelf.The only improvement would be a long, thin bag to keep the components together when stored.
