As some one who takes the arts and especially visual arts serious this book is a refreshing look at the artist journey. It's full of great quotes, reflections, concepts and ideas in art. It's a book that also inspires one to look more seriously on there own journey and drive in creativity. It's worth the read regardless if your beginner or more advance the arts. It's well written and I highly recommend it!

Inspiring writer who shares his information and inspiration from real experience and informative stories. I’m still reading the book but I purchased another copy for a family member. He leads you into your own creative space and enlarges your heart and desire to learn more. Authentic with introspective substance.

Not only does this book give you "48 keys to Creativity", it offers insight to the creative process and to the nature of creativity itself. Being Creative isn't just a drive or a pleasure pursuit, it's a religion in itself, a pure vocation that defines and fulfills a person all at the same time. If you're struggling to understand why you feel compelled to create and how to drive that compulsion in a positive direction, this book is a great guidepost. It will surprise and inspire you. Everytime I open it, it does so for me, still. And I've been making art for more than 60 years.

I've read every book on creativity from Rollo May to Twyla Tharp and this is among the best. Wish I had come across this five years ago when I started my own creative journey--it would have spared me a lot of digging. A broad, almost encyclopedic, sweep of the best practices of some of the most well-tried creative techniques, Martin's book is a potent gateway drug to one of the most addictive practices of my life. It points you in all the right directions to do your own thinking and further research. The author's passion and enthusiasm for the subject comes through on every page. The book is organized by "keys" (crucual aspects of creativity) which allows a reader to either dip in and out of it by subject or to read it in one gulp. And, by all means, read it! If you are a timid newbie as I was just a few years ago or a seasoned creative with a rigorous daily practice as I am now, READ THIS BOOK! Highly recommended.
