Awol Vision 100" ALR Daylight Screen for UST projectors.
After my 75" led tv died and after watching a bunch of reviews on Youtube I bought this screen to pair with an Awol Vision ultra short throw projector.Screen came well packaged . Screen was rolled up on a cardboard tube and shrink wrapped. The frame components and attachment hardware was stored in foam inside the tube. This tube was in its own box. This box was inside another box. This packaging has some weight to it but should significantly or entirely reduce damage during shipping.My screen came on the scheduled day. The packaging wasn't beat up. After inventorying the package contents, the assembly instructions were sufficient for assembly. The screen is msde up of multiole layers making it surprisingly durable. There is an arrow on the back of the screen so it is mounted on the wall in the correct orientation. Tensioning the screen was pretty straight forward once the hardware was installed. It took two people to hang the screen on the wall with the included mounting hardware. The assembly instructions described this procedure well. The inner and outer frames are sturdy and esthetically pleasing. Extra assemly parts were included. Screen size is approximately 89"L x50"H.Overall, I'm pleased with the screen so far. Watching 100" 3D movies is awesome. 2D movies, video games, and streaming services are very clear as well. Where I have my screen mounted, I do not notice any difference in picture quality as brightness of room changes because the screen is an ALR (Active Light Rejecting) screen specifically designed for Ultra Short Throw (UST) projectors in well lit rooms. If you're looking to upgrade or create a theater room in your dwelling, I would consider this screen. However; I have not tested other ALR screens in the same price range to see how they compare. This screen is for Ultrs Short Throw projectors. So, if you dont have a UST projector, this may not work with your setup . If it does, you may see a reduction in picture quality or need to optimize picture settings.

I was nervous about putting this large screen together because it was just me doing it, but to my surprise, it was easy. Plan your project and lay out all the parts on a flat surface. The most difficult part is putting in the metal compression springs that keep the screen tight and secured to the frame, and that is easy enough with the tool already included in the kit. The picture comes alive against this screen, I am so happy about this purchase.
Might spend more
Ok, so I realize now why people avoid the projector “game”. Seems as though there is always another few thousand more to spend.I have the AWOL 2500 unit paired with their 100 inch daytime screen. I had very high expectations and I will say the colors are simply amazing.Took two hours to put together with another person helping me.Only complaint is that you can “see” the actual texture of the screen while watching. I’m sure in a few days my brain will filter this info out but until then it almost looks like static.2500 for the projector and 1600 for the screen I had visions of perfection. I’ll tell you that in this game there just isn’t enough money on the planet to make me totally happy.Daytime viewing has improved from my other generic white screen but not 85% better as advertised and honestly night time viewing I almost liked it just as well for a 150 dollar screen.Bottom line is I was into the projector game in the late 90’s and I gave up searching for the “best” picture.I feel the same now as I’m doing this with what I thought was a considerable budget. If I could start over I’d seriously save about 20,000 and do it right or just buy a 85inch tv for a grand and call it a day.In certain movies and conditions it blows away a 85 inch but I feel like ultimately I would have rather saved the money and taken a vacation instead.Overall it’s a great picture, I just feel like the price isn’t worth the extra few thousand. So on the value side it was a decadent purchase for me.
Worth the money - pairs well with Hisense PX3-Pro
Combined this with a Hisense PX3-Pro projector (sorry AWOL you really need to release a product to compete with this model) - it is a superb projector material. It takes an hour or two to build, but once its done, it's superb. Be very careful that your working surface is free of dust and debris or they might become visibly lodged between the screen and the mounting frame - requiring it to be taken down and redone (if it bothers you). Also be very careful/methodical when tightening and follow instructions. This is installed in my downstairs office / den and it does a great job of rejecting everything but the most direct of sunlight.
Irregular at full price
The screen I received has a 2” strip across the middle that has a different texture than the rest of the screen, unfortunately I didn’t open the box in time to return.
Not easy to put together.
Picture looks great during the daytime. However the only issue we had was putting the screen together. Parts were the incorrect size or holes were not measured correctly when they were being cut from their warehouse or distribution center.
Amazing quality even in bright conditions
I bought 120” daylight screen for my living room and it is fantastic. Even with lot of ambient light from large windows, the screen still performs so well, it feels like having a huge TV and doesn’t feel like a projector screen. Highly recommend for using in a room with lot of light
Perfect for our needs
I had an 85" TV that went dead. Could not be repaired. I decided to replace it with a short throw projector. I researched reviews of projector and screens which lead me to choosing AWOL. I needed the YouTube videos to assemble and mount the screen. Initially I was very dissatisfied with picture quality. However, I turned the screen upside down then rehung it and WALA! the picture was fantastic both in daylight as well as in darkness. Big screen short throw projector along with ambient light screens make way better sense than large TV screens that are difficult to mount.
