5.0 out of 5 stars Not sure if I'm doing it right BUT...
Like I said, I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly but this thing is so well built. I like how its small enough to bring in a bag and hold comfortably. I also like that there are multiple resistance options. I follow the directions as best as possible, I think I'm doing it kinda right, and I feel what I need to be feeling. So I'll say this works. It pairs well with my humidifier.
4.0 out of 5 stars What do I say? Didn't work for me, but obviously high quality for what it is
I really don't know how to be fair in reviewing this item. I personally don't like it, but it does seem to be high quality and I don't think that my dissatisfaction is caused by any failure in design or quality, I just think the breath trainer itself is kind of silly.I initially became interested in getting one of these types of breath trainers after I saw a social media campaign claiming that these had been designed for the Navy Seals in their training. I took a look and decided it wasn't worth trying for the price, and seemed unlikely that they had anything to do with Navy Seal training. Then when I was offered one of these through Vine I decided to give it a chance. It seems my initial impression was the correct one. I have experienced no "mucus removal," though I wasn't looking for that, and the resistance offered by the device isn't enough for any real "training" to my way of thinking, I can just purse my lips and achieve greater resistance that way (without needing to buy or carry this around). I don't have asthma, or any serious chest mucus problems, so I can't say whether this device might be useful for someone else.Honestly I don't really like this contraption and won't keep it, however to be fair, because everything does seem to be of very high quality, I am giving it four stars. If this thing does work for someone, then it'd definitely be five stars for them.
3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay
I've got another breath trainer that I like much better, this one doesn't really feel like it's working for me. It does look well made and I love that it comes with a little carrying case, but I just don't feel that it's helping my breathing at all. It's not the easiest thing to clean, and you can see it immediately fill with air as you breathe, which means you have to clean frequently or risk making things worse.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is fun!
I really like this little portable breath trainer. It comes apart very easily, which is actually important for a couple reasons. The first, of course, is to be able to change the ball bearings if you want to. There are three, and they are definitely and noticeably different. Mama bearing, papa bearing, and baby bearing. Goldiliocks would approve. The little thing that rises up on the top when you breathe out is even a teddy bear head. How perfect! The second reason that the thing needs to easily come apart is that it needs regularly cleaned. If you were in high school band and knew any brass players, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The condensation in the breath condenses and it literally dripped on me once. Ew. But it's a hard plastic casing and steel bearings, so I just pop it apart and hit it with dish soap and I'm good to go. Frequently, but easily. It comes in a really nice hard shell case. Really nice, with a velour interior and a seriously heavy duty zipper. They spared no expense, here. Impressive.Aside from that, it's really cool. Like, really cool. You breathe out deep and hard, and the ball bearing bounces, causing the air to start and stop. It's not really a vibration so much as a machine gun pulse. If you do it right, which takes some trial and error, you can feel the pulse all the way down your face, down your neck, and into your chest. What does this actually do? I'm not sure. Doesn't seem to really DO much of anything, aside from feeling really cool. But I guess I am learning to hold it longer to prolong the sensation, so maybe that's what they mean by breath training? It is loud, so either do it when you're alone or expect to get some weird looks.
1.0 out of 5 stars I have never instantly hated something so much...
This has all the fancy keywords to catch someone like me struggling with rebuilding my breath control and deal with a lot of mucus courtesy of developing asthma as an adult. I was all excited to grab it, thinking maybe it would help. And I have never hated something so much, so quickly.Straight out of the box, it looks great. Looks decent quality, has the nice case for travel, all good things. But using it is just... horrible. It's useless. It does nothing for the mucus angle, and even less for the breath training. What it DOES do is instantly fill with moisture from natural condensation while breathing, which was gross to deal with every time. I could get better results with less clean-up by just doing breathing exercises on my own.
5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good
I got my running son this breather and a travel case, and he really likes it! It’s an effective tool to help improve lung capacity and breathing control, which is great for his running. The steel balls provide different resistance levels, and the compact design makes it easy to take on the go. It pairs well with his peak flow meter, making it a useful addition to his training routine.
5.0 out of 5 stars Breath trainer.
Easy to set up and use, and definitely a workout if your lungs aren’t in the best shape. Our asthmatic was recommended one at her last pulmonologist appointment, and when this came up, we snagged it. She likes it. It’s well built, and the differently sized balls are able to be changed out for each other as your lungs strengthen. She says it’s fun, and it works as expected. ~$30 is what I would expect to pay for something like this, so I’m happy with the value.
