5.0 out of 5 stars Actionable Advice

A.S. · August 28, 2025

Leadership is a topic particularly of interest to me, as I'm always looking to improve my skills at work. This book had a lot of great, actionable advice. It talked about the importance of cultivating curiosity as a leader and exploring "divergent thinking" which I had never heard of before. But I love the idea as it will help my team innovate! Resilience is a particularly timely topic with so much uncertainty in business and the world! I'm looking forward to using some of these ideas with my team!

5.0 out of 5 stars A concise and focused overview of what makes an iconic leader

I appreciated the author’s straightforward style. I don’t have a lot of time for (or interest in) drawn-out personal development books with a ton of personal stories from the author. I prefer this approach, where anecdotes are about respected thought leaders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good

Good. Chapters don’t seem long as the way they are cut up. Easy to read and understand. Good information throughout book.

A bold, practical guide to visionary leadership and decision-making packed with real-world examples, strategic frameworks, and tools to help leaders think bigger, act smarter, and execute with precision. This book bridges the gap between lofty leadership theory and practical execution. It doesn’t just talk about “thinking outside the box”. It shows you how leaders like Jobs, Musk, Bezos, and Nadella reshaped industries by asking different questions, taking smart risks, and building cultures of innovation. Each chapter blends inspiring case studies with actionable strategies: from cultivating a visionary mindset, to balancing conviction with adaptability, to leveraging disruptive innovation, to executing masterplans with military-like precision. The strengths here are clarity and structure. The book moves from mindset (visionary thinking, courage, resilience), to methods (disruptive innovation, agility, Blue Ocean strategy), to execution (focus, culture, frameworks like OKRs, Balanced Scorecards, and rapid prototyping). It’s accessible, jargon is minimal, and each concept is reinforced with memorable examples. I particularly liked how it emphasized balancing bold vision with adaptability; too many leadership books lean too far one way.Critique? At times the book reuses familiar success stories (Apple, Tesla, Netflix) instead of venturing into lesser-known but equally valuable examples. Some sections are aspirational more than step-by-step. But the trade-off is inspiration that still feels grounded in strategy.Who it’s for:- Leaders and managers who want to move from incremental improvement to transformational change.- Entrepreneurs, executives, or professionals facing complex decisions and wanting frameworks to make them wisely.- Readers who enjoy case studies of iconic leaders paired with practical takeaways.Who it’s not for:- Those looking for light “leadership quotes” without depth.- Readers expecting highly academic, data-heavy analysis.- People uninterested in disruptive innovation or long-term strategy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical book with useful tools

I really enjoyed Leadership Strategy: The Art & Science of Decision-Making. The decision matrix in Chapter 4 was a game changer. I actually used it to score options for a product pivot, and it gave me instant clarity. I also liked the part on emergent vs planned strategy (chapter 7), with the startup case study that showed how sometimes you have to pivot from the big plan and double down on what’s working.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute gem for professionals looking to elevate their leadership approach

J.A.M. · October 5, 2025

What makes this book stand out is its unique blend of art (emotional intelligence, intuition, influence) and science (data analysis, game theory, risk frameworks). It recognizes that significant decisions aren’t just logical—they’re also timely, human-centered, and situationally aware.

4.0 out of 5 stars good descriptive book

S.C. · September 10, 2025

I liked how this book eludes to real life examples, its literary style is very easy to comprehend and the ideas it shares and what it calls to action is a great way to level up as a leader.

3.0 out of 5 stars Visionary mindsets for bold transformation

Motivational and polished, this reads like a well-crafted guide for leadership seminars. But it’s surface-level, lacks personal depth, and feels AI-authored. More of a framework than a field-tested philosophy.
