The never rub my Achilles, but I also use a very tight heel-lock lace up tie. They're great shock absorbers. The ankle side supports are about 2mm shorter than Ascics, not good or bad, just noticable. These Brooks are less flexible than my Ascics, which I need when walking/running outside, so as a female nurse, I use my Asics to walk the 3-5 miles per shift on my hospital's hard floors, and running on my park's concrete. I use these for running through wooded trails and muck. The toe box is larger and more comfortable than Asics, I get my normal size in Brooks, and I have to go up 0.5-1.5 in shoe size with Asics just for a wider toe box. I find that the inside of Brooks shoes break down before the outside breaks down. They're very well made, very study, high quality, and they outlast Ascics (specifically the toe webbing outlasts Ascics every time), which they had better do at 2-3xs the price of Ascics.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wanted a shoe that was durable. I average 25000 steps or more a day and I needed a shoe that would last! Brooks are the Best shoes I have put on my feet!

Super comfortable and supportive. I have a medium width foot, and find many shoes are too wide and sloppy for me. Brooks fits perfectly, wish I had tried them earlier.
