5.0 out of 5 stars i bought it for the design but used it daily

    J. · June 22, 2025

i loved the normal hori fight commander octa so i decided to buy this one for the design i like tekken and i have alot of hours in tekken so i decided to buy this to use while playing it its nice the dpad takes time to break in though i was missing giant swing inputs for awhile until i broke it in i still have this one around even though i recently bought the pro version they released so it has replaced this one i think its really cool they are working with popular fighting games i wish they made a mortal kombat one if they do end up doing that i will buy that one too alot of people complain about the dpad i can say if you have issues with it download the software and mess with the dead zones abit it helps alot

1.0 out of 5 stars Disconnects frequently. The dpad is not good.

    d. · February 8, 2024

Even with the software sensitivity set to the max, the dpad is a challenge to use in tekken 8.The face buttons are OK and responsive but makes no sense if movement is bad and it also disconnects.Need these quality buttons with the fight commander dpad. That may be a winner.I want to keep it for the looks but will return because of the poor functionality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great

Very good controller for fighting games, I exclusively use it for all my fighting games now. But it’s probably a bit overpriced just becose it has a Tekken logo on it. You might want to get the basic model

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best Controller

    A.C. · February 9, 2024

I like HORI's game controllers, particularly the PS5/PS4 Octa, so I ordered the controller around the time it was announced, mainly because I wanted to compare the two and have a backup. Sadly, the Tekken version of the controller is not quite as good as the original Octa. The positives are the right stick add-on. That does help, particularly if you need to control the camera in Tekken 8's Arcade Quest or lobbies in that game or other fighting games such as SF6 (or Granblue if it's lobbies can be controller in that manner. The design is also great. I wish there would be more fightpads with designs, in fact. The controller is cool-looking and pleasing to the eye. However, the D-Pad is not great on this controller ... much worse than the first Octa, particularly as it pertains to diagonals. With the Tekken 8 Octa, if you're trying to get a diagonal input, you have to "force" it, whereas on the original Octa, it doesn't require as much to get a proper diagonal. Even adjusting the sensitivity in the Device Manager did not seem to improve it at all. Also, it's only for PC, so you may not be able to use it at certain tournaments without a converter. This may not be a huge deal for those who primarily or exclusively play on PC, but it is something to take note of if you do not.Because of this, I could only recommend the controller if you're incapable of getting the PS5 or Xbox Series Octa, or you just want the controller because it looks cool. It makes a decent backup in a pinch, but I would stick with the other Octas which are much better quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful but busted?

    C. · February 5, 2024

This is my first hori commander controller and I was excited for it but.. here is my review after a week.Cons1. LB button gets stuck easily, sometimes even putting in multiple commands so im stuck going in and out of "specialty mode" on tekken 8. I have to press and wiggle the button around to try and "pop it back out" to stop the commands from being put in.2. D-Pad Diagonal inputs? At first I sat in the practice arena thinking maybe it was me, but I can say now after a week that it really struggles with those diagonal inputs. I came back to write a review only to see many others also having this same issue.Pros1. Super light-weight, I have to watch where I sit it since it seems like the cord is heavier than the controller lol2.Big buttons make it easier to make sure you are getting those combos in3. The additional RB and RT button makes heat and rage arts easily chainable with the press of a button (Tekken8)Ill be back for another update after testing the HORI's Companion APP, it may be a fix to the diagonal problem. If so, then this controller 5 star easily minus the issue i have with my LB

4.0 out of 5 stars Near top controller

This game pad works as intended and I would overclock to get the best effective performance. Most of the complaints are human error. I have all hour pads this is the fastest response pad. Unfortunately the MKX mad Catz is a tad better responsive. But it’s not available to buy. I have one and will enjoy both pads.Overclock is a must look up you videos to get 1 Ms response.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dpad is basically Useless

    T. · March 9, 2024

The D-Pad's diagonals are basically non existent. I set maximum for the sensitivity of the diagonals and still could barely use them. For a controller themed around a game that absolutely needs diagonals, it completely fails in that aspect

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware of the dpad

    R.T.b. · August 1, 2025

I got it for the design and for the addition of a second analog stick (more of a slider). The good qualities are the addition of a second stick for third person controller, rotating your character during cosmetic customizing and additional inputs for games like mk11.The bad qualities is one major thing. The dpad is terrible. It uses the rubber membranes that dont match the click format face buttons. Also the diagonals dont register leading me to drop alot of inputs during tekken 8 u know the controller that has tje said game paint job on it. Minor gripes are no headset jack and its extremely ligh weight. So buyer beware of the dpad and know what u r getting.

    D-Pad Diagonal issues.

    Y. · February 7, 2024

Once again. A big disapointment from Hori. Seeing this controller is supposed to be for fighting games. Even sporting a "wonderful" Tekken 8 design, the controller isn't up to figthing games standards.First of all. The dedicated software used to change the D-Pad sensitivity isn't working properly. The controller can be recognized as a 360 controller or an actual PC Pad. If you launch the program to change the settings, it'll act as a PC periphery. AS soon as you TAB OUT of the program window, the controller disconnects itself and reconnects as a 360 controller. What does it mean? The software adjustment you just made are not being taken in consideration.Second of all. The D-Pad YET AGAIN is an absolute mess. The diagonals are NOT registered properly, there is no ammount of software update that are gonna fix this. It is a physical D-Pad issue. It is not up to fighting game standards. I've played fighting games for a solid 10+ years and I was having issue doing quarter circle inputs. The controller itself feels cheap. The plastic for the shoulder button is something you should be REALLY careful with. The front buttons also need to be handled gently. It is just the same product as the other Hori with a fancy design on it.Please if you are a fighting game enjoyer DO NOT buy this product. I've already sent mine back and will look into alternative in order to play fighting games. I wish the Commander Fightpad was still around for Ps5. But sadly Hori does not really care.

Un buen control para juegos de pelea

    M.G. · February 3, 2024

The media could not be loaded. El control es responsivo y comodo de usar, está versión en particular es exclusiva para PC. El diseño y la calidad de la serigrafía es buena.Lo único malo es que los botones no cuentan con un esmalte que evite que se borren los símbolos de los mismos con el tiempo.

Very good controller for its current price!

    R.S. · May 13, 2025

I give it a 5☆ because honestly, if you can get yourself this controller for less than 30$CAD, it's hard to complain. The same controller is 60$USD on the Hori USA website. You can also buy the same controller Licensed by Capcom for around 90$CAD if you prefer, but in this current economy, we're trying to save and put the hobby aside unless there is a very good deal that you can't skip.I wonder if the price was affected by how Tekken 8 players were letdown with the 2nd Season Pass.I connected the controller on a Brook Wingman FGC to play on my PS5 and it just work. I can play Street Fighter 6 World Tour with the right joystick and having my full six buttons for classic play.I didn't really liked the D-Pad on older Street Fighter games (SF 30th AC) but on SF6 it isn't too bad, just nothing compared to the 8bitdo M30 Xbox version which is by far better and more confortable to hold.tldr; just buy it :)

    Avoid this product.

    A.C. · July 5, 2025

A disgraceful excuse for a controller. This product, as many others have stated, is not fir for purpose. The D-Pad essentially is non-working and will only drop your inputs over and over.Even jumping forward is a struggle with this scam of an item.I got this despite all the warnings that it was a dreadful controller, but in EU it seems options are limited on Fight Pads. It's a real shame Hori have cornered the market to the extent that they have, because this item is essentially broken on purchase.Avoid at all costs.

For a Fighting Game Controller, worst D-Pad ever...

    S.s. · February 1, 2024

I believe my 25 year old Sega MegaDrive 16bit Controller had better D-Pad input registration than this "Fighting Game Controller"... up+f, dw+f, dw+b and up+b inputs never register, I knew there was an issue with previous octa controllers with the d-pad when I ordered this one, but I thought it would be fixable with firmware update, but the same firmware update doesn't apply to the Tekken8 version... Hori Device Manager App doesn't offer firmware update and the d-pad sencitivity adjustment doesn't work on this controller version... I was really excited for this controller with the release of Tekken 8, actually ordered twice because the first UK batch was sold out, so had to reorder from Germany, but ended up beyond dissappinted and will have to go back to using my ps5 controller which turned out to be 100 times better then this excuse for a Fighting Game Controller, only thing it has related to Fighing Games, is the name, avoid at all costs..... Will update the review if firmware update will come out that will fix d-pad input registration issue and fix the app d-pad sencitivity adjustment...
