Love these shoes! If you prefer a zero drop shoe with a wide toe box give these a try. I have two pair, one I use only for the gym, the other for everyday use. So comfortable. I will buy again.

These are very close in support to a barefoot shoe for running. They might be OK for sprint runs, not sure about long distance. I like the feel of the uppers - LOTS of toe room and don't irritate my toenails or bunion area. I've had mesh shoes before and they tend to get holes quicker than regular shoes but I bought these specifically for the toe room and comfortable mesh. A much wider toe box than any other shoe I've tried, including HOKA. After putting in an insert, they had better arch support but mine created an embarrassing squeak - then found a different one that made it all better. Color is more of a charcoal than black, which is not bothersome to me. I am going to try another color in this style of one of their other shoes for walking.

Love this running shoes!! So comfortable, light and flexible . The best shoes I've had in a long while . I mostly run on sidewalks and paved roads . My feet are never sore or hurt after running . My longest distance is usually 3 miles

These are my 4th Altra Escalante. Shoes fits great, but the shoelaces are short - I could barely make a small bow. How short? Old pair has 57 " and this new pair : 46" . Oslo the new shoelaces are more synthetic and untie almost instantly without a double tie which is impossible to make now. $ 135 shoes and I need to buy new shoelaces to use them : ((

Very comfortable shoes. No drop so my achilles tendon does not bother me after a marathon round of pickle ball.

Lower profile shoe that looks and feels great. I’m using them primarily for everyday walking at work, I’m not so sure I’d find them comfortable as a running shoe. They’re a little more narrow and not as deep as some of their other models, so I think they’d be uncomfortable if you have wider or thicker feet. My feet are fairly thin/bony/narrow and they fit fairly snug. Sometimes I have to size up in Altras, but the length was true to my normal size.

Wide toe box no longerwide
These are way more narrow than the escalante 3 - considering returning them as they no longer let the foot breathe and toes splay.
Narrower forefoot fitting
The forefoot fitting is narrower than escalante racer series. It made my big toe bruised, which never happened to me before. I wore escalante racer 1 and 2, ran many many miles, and I never had this issue. A little disappointed with the escalante 4.
