Limited grey and pink colored vinyl LP pressing. Caravan are one of the UK's most acclaimed progressive rock bands, active since the late 1960s. This is their third studio album, originally released in 1971 when they were signed to the Decca/Deram label, and considered a high-point of the band's career. Rolling Stone listed the album as No. 34 on their list of the '50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time', saying it evoked 'a Middle Earth sunset, with the music wavering between medieval folk melodies and jazz-savvy musos'. According to AllMusic, the album is 'one of the most beloved, and eccentric prog albums of them all' and 'probably Caravan's finest hour'.

A classic reissued well
I don't know the background to this album or very much about the band. I know they were part of the Canterbury scene and that this is regarded as their classic third album. Released in 1971.The packaging for the album is excellent. The original gatefold is reproduced with the credits for the extra tracks included. For an album with pink and grey in the title the vinyl itself is pink with a tiny hint of grey. Very tasteful.Musically it's your early 70s prog. There are hints of Jethro tull but that might just be as both bands use flutes. It's fairly easy to get into.The band seem to have a good sense of humour. Song titles vary from Golf girl, love song with a flute and the Nine feet underground song , 23 minutes in length taking up the whole of side 2.Maybe not for everyone but if your thinking of getting a copy this version is excellent. The sound quality is superb and you get a whole album of worthwhile extras including rare tracks and BBC sessions some of which have been remixed by Steven Wilson.
