The app for these Earbuds is so far ahead of any app for earbuds I've used. It learns how you hear music and makes adjustments similar to an equalizer based of what i can only guess is the response time it takes for the low pitched sounds all the way to higher pitched sounds to bounce off your eardrums and return to the microphones on the Earbuds. I'm not using my review to criticize other brands like some people do because everyone is looking for certain qualities. The most important quality to me is how good do they sound? I still use a free downloaded equalizer to tweak different types of music because I am a perfectionist when it comes to listening to my music. Call quality is not important to me when purchasing Earbuds. I could care less about call quality. I spend 95% of my time listening to music with my Earbuds. If i cared about call clarity and how great a phone call sounds I would waste money on one of those one ear bluetooth wireless receivers for phone calls. If you want more details read the review about the Denon PerL Pro Earbuds by "shadow_shooter" 😶🌫️ you will understand why I was so anxious to try these Earbuds. What was even more amazing was that the Earbuds were on sale for 50% off!! I still would have purchased them at their full price, because I am obsessed with listening to music as if I need full sized speakers attached to my head while I'm listening to music. These come close to looking like mini speakers when they are in my ears, but I'm not worried about appearance because it's like I'm in another world when I'm listening to music.I put a penny in the picture I took so you could get an idea of the size of the Earbud, but I don't care about the size because they sound GREAT! The size of the Earbuds is one of the reasons they have such a rich full sound and that includes a rich bass sound too. They were on sale for 50% off on the Denon website too. This is probably why Bolo had them on sale for 50% off.Shadow_shooter also mentions the Denon App for these Earbuds. The App is ridiculously ahead of any wireless headphone App I've ever used. The App as shadow_shooter mentions is amazing. I am not an expert regarding Earbuds, or the Apps they use, but you need to see/hear what the Denon App does during setup and the individualized personal sound the App creates when you're setting up your Denon Earbuds. Now I need to find something else to waste money on because I don't need to keep going on my endless search of wasting money looking for my perfect set of Earbuds. I finally found them when I bought the Denon PerL Pro True Wireless Earbuds.Thank you "shadow_shooter" for taking the time to do your review! I never would have considered these, but your review changed my mind.If they are still on sale buy them because you will regret it. If they aren't on sale on Bolo, check the Denon website too.Just in case Denon has them on sale.Update: These are tied for #2 out of the Earbuds I own. The Dennon Earbuds are great and if you try them you won't be disappointed. I ended up buying 3 pairs just in case they stop making them. They are tied with my Bowers & Wilkins. My new #1 Earbuds are Devialet Gemini II.The Devialet are unbelievable and just need to be heard to understand why I am glad I bought them. I thought they might go on sale, but i got tired of waiting. Now if they go on sale I will buy backup pairs just in case. All these Earbuds still need an additional equalizer app downloaded from the app store in addition to the app for the Earbuds. The equalizer app I am using is free and has more frequency adjustments and a volume booster too. I paid for a equalizer app that only had 4 band adjustments and the free one I found has 10 bands to adjust with only an occasional ad, but the ads are so infrequent it's like you paid for the equalizer app. I've wanted to purchase the app only because it's so good I think the developers deserve to be paid for this app, but i couldn't find a buy option on the app itself or on the website.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
Just after the Sennheiser True Wireless Momentum 4 earbuds dethroned my Bose QC Ultra earbuds, mainly for the wireless charging case and punchy sound, the Denon Perl Pro came on sale. What was I supposed to do than to try this mythical contender that's relatively hard to find in the wild?Anyway, my home entertainment system is completely Denon and it never let me down. What really sparked my interest beyond that, however, is the fantastic smart speaker Home 250 which impresses me with the crystal clear sound, even compared to an Bolo Echo Studio and Bose Portable Smart Speaker in the same household. So, time to try out the Denon Perl Pro, with the 'Pro' being important for lossless codec support and custom sound profiles. The Denon Perl Pro is visually very similar to the standard model. The charging case is smaller than the Bose QC Ultra and the Sennheiser TWM4, but still larger than the Apple AirPods Pro 2. That may matter more to some than others. However, the Bose QC Ultra case being the only one of the mentioned examples that doesn't charge wirelessly despite feeling arguably the largest. Where the Denon case fails, however, is the ergonomics of removing the earbuds from it. It's easily the worst ergonomics of all four examples. Not a deal breaker but feels like an oversight nevertheless. The size and weight of the earbuds are sometimes mentioned as a negative. Neither bother me much, but if those criteria are important to you, it may be the main reason to look elsewhere. Maybe make sure to actually try them as this is a rather subjective thing. The large circular design sure looks different. The fit out of the box suits me just fine, just like the Bose and the Sennheiser. That is something I cannot say about the AirPods which never really fit me well. The touch buttons can be customized, with one odd difference: Tap-and-hold is reserved to reset/restart the earbuds, a unique feature, but also unavailable to the common "Volume Up/Down" function. The Tap-tap-hold is less intuitive and not always easy to execute. The iPhone app is decent, even if a bit temperamental, as the earbuds shut down in the case and become invisible to the app. Reconnecting then takes a few seconds, by far longer than any of the other earbuds I own. Once connected, you get basic settings in the home screen and most options are hidden away in the settings. There is no conversation awareness, a specialty of the AirPods, but spatial audio, environmental awareness (pass thru) are. The latter isn't configurable as to how to mix the environment with the music, but the spatial audio is easily the best I have heard so far. This is mostly since it doesn't try too hard to fake space, but is a subtle impact. That also means that audio quality actually improves, unlike the Bose QC Ultra implementation that's best when turned off.The ANC performance of the Bose QC Ultra (and AirPod Pro 2) are unmatched by the Denon Perl Pro (and the Sennheiser TWM4), but fairly useful in normal use. I don't use earbuds for making calls and cannot comment on the microphones in either of these earbuds.THE stand-out feature of the Denon Perl Pro is the Advanced Acoustic Technology (AAT). What sounds like a marketing term is surprisingly effective. The app plays sounds and measures "how you hear music". That's nothing short of black magic and sure worth a skeptical eye. The already good sounding earbuds really come alive with a customized profile. It was truly jaw-dropping how much more dynamic these sound with the personalized profile activated. Up to three profiles can be defined and stored. Just make sure to follow instructions to get a good seal and be quiet during the measurement. For me, the deciding factor was the deal during Prime Day(s) to give it a try and I do not regret it. It's easily one of my favorite earbuds. At full price it may still be a good choice, but less of a slam dunk.
Wow, just wow. Compares to my $700 IEMs paired with a $300 DAC
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } If you love audio quality and it’s top criteria in a set of TWS ANC buds, treat yourself to these babies and thank me later. Good ANC and other features too. After going through three pairs of TWS, two being ANC (1More TWS ANC and Kef Mu3) over the last 6+ years and going deeper and deeper into the audiophilia rabbit hole, spending tens of thousands of dollars on IEMs, headphones, DACs, speakers, amps and PA systems, etc. since, I’m absolutely stunned with these. I have to remind myself to take breaks and even long for reasons to put them back into my ears. In fact, I often wish I had them in my pocket when it’s not the case. After much research and patience, I had short listed these along with all the other top tier TWS ANC buds but was especially eyeing the Status Between Pro ANC’s. When these Denons went on sale for Black Friday at only $30 more than the Status’ I pulled the trigger. They sound decent right out of the box but it’s true that the ‘’Dirac for your ears’’ personalized tuning combined with the spatial audio make all the difference. That’s the wow factor.Like many other users, I performed 3 ear scans and gravitated towards to the one I felt was best (first one in my case)… I then added a little upper EQ boost for what I essentially feel is very close to perfection. Deep, immersive bass. Clear mid-range. Tonal accuracy. Smooth but detailed high end. Sparkle without sheen or sibilance. Staging, seperation and layering is just beautiful. I’d say basically on par with my 700$ wired IEMs + $300 dac. These babies really do sing and I’ve only experienced them via AAC from my iPhone! I do plan on buying the FiiO BT11 when it becomes available though.I also love the customizable controls and the multipoint (I listen to Spotify or Bolo HD from my personal iPhone and do my Teams meetings and phone calls from my work laptop). Battery life is generous enough for my needs. Transparency mode is good and definitely useable, it just doesn’t feel as natural as my Kef Mu3’s which are close to invisible but it’s definitely better than my 1More’s. ANC, connectivity, reliability, and call quality is much better on the Denon’s than both my Kef’s and 1More’s. Comfort is also in between my Kefs and 1More’s but I may just need to try more appropriate tips and fins for my ears. I’m not sure about running with them as there seems to be an odd feeling and noise with heavy steps. Again, this could always just come down to fit for me.Bottom line, I got them for communiting, working, calls and just enjoying music and they tick all those boxes.
Wow!!!
I have owned the MTW4 for a while now which have been the best earbuds that I've tried until I got the Perl Pros. The sound is just perfect. Good clarify across the frequency range and they have an immersive feel which is hard to find in any other earbuds.I did also purchase the AZ80 which are equally good, but the Perl Pros immersiveness cannot be replicated although the soundstaging feel like they are neck to neck.So I use the MTW4 and AZ80 as my daily drivers and the Perl Pros if I just want purley enjoy my music. For the price point they are now they are with it.
