i had to use two tea lights under each tray, and putting the trays with the handles off the short end allows the tray to sit closer to the candle. Some of the product images on Bolo show the set up a little differently. I can't speak to how safe the coating is on the trays. but isn't everything bad for us these days? works fine. If i were to buy again, i might buy the ones with the sides to the candle doesn't blow and it might retain the heat more so it takes less time to melt. It does take a good 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
