It’s absolutely essential for getting consistent, reliable results—especially when you're working with alcohol, which can throw off freezing.This thing is easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. There’s honestly nothing negative to say about it. At this price point, it's a steal and offers an incredible return on investment for anyone making frozen drinks, cocktails, or even for brewing and winemaking.If you're making slushies at home or commercially, this is the tool you need to take out the guesswork. The meter worked well for me. Compact size and easy to use. Used for checking BRIX levels in wine.Beats using a Hydrometer. Much easier to read. Compared readings to friends more expensive meter and was very close in accuracy.

Intro:I use this for brewing beer. And I wanted to ensure it was reasonably accurate. I compared with my wifi hydrometer during fermentation (compensating refractometer reading for alcohol) and with my regular hydrometer during mash and boil. And in every case, they agreed to within one point after converting the refractometer's reading from brix to SG; generally dead-on.Pros:- Accurate- Fast; maybe a bit more than 2 seconds- As with most/all refractometers, needs only a few drops of liquid, reducing waste- Versus an analog refractometer; no need to go find a light source, turn the refractometer so the image is clear, nor dealing with blurry lines once there's alcohol in the solutionCons:- My only minor quibble/desire is that it would have an integrated brix to SG conversion so I don't have to do that manually/in my brewing software. But my analog refractometer didn't do that either. So, no huge loss.Summary:It is very accurate and easy/quick to use. I can't speak to quality or whether each is equally accurate. But if not, calibrate it and I imagine it will be. Highly recommended.

I've only used this once for beer brewing and a couple of times for kombucha. The beer numbers where pretty close to the estimate my software gave me. I just need to do a comparison with my hydrometer next.
