Have used it for different lizards and it does fine. Just make sure your base that it screws into can handle the watts and the heat as they indeed get very hot depending on wattage.

It works pretty well... It heats up my 40gal terrarium slightly better than my 25w halogen bulb, except without the light. By slightly I mean about 2 degrees Fahrenheit. I tried a traditional 60w heat bulb but that was far too hot for what I needed.I only wanted the tank to be between 80 and 90F. 25w halogen got me 78 degrees plus or minus 5 degrees. The 60w traditional got me over 100 degrees. So for this 40w ceramic heating element it got me 80 degrees plus or minus 5. Take that for what you will. Depends on your needs.

So I have this 60w bulb being tested inside an 18inch tall melamine fully enclosed enclosure. I have an electric thermometer sitting directly under it on a wooden round bark hide and while house stays 75, this spot hasn't quite reached 90 degrees. So I'd say this increases interior enclosure temp by about 10deg from ambient in a 3x2x18 in the hot spot. I need this spot to reach 90-95 so will be trying a 75w next.
