Heavy (which is good) and might be bigger than you think. Consider the smaller size model if you don't really need the extra capacity. As far as operation: Flawless. No complaints here. Easily cuts through big stacks of paper. Nice, clean, crisp edges. Absolutely straight cuts.

Good cutter for the price -- even though I'm on my 2nd one. One problem is the packaging -- this cutter is heavy, and the winder on the paper compression bar sticks out. Though there is some styrofoam in the area, it's not enough for this sturdy part to survive rough handling -- my first cast iron handle was broken in half and the 8mm hardened steel shaft was bent -- not sure from what height this unit would have to be dropped to accomplish that, but FedEx managed it. Bottom line, this needs to be a user-installed part. To Bolo's credit, they picked up the broken cutter and I had a new one in less than a week. So save your packaging! until you check out your unit.Other users have complained that the handle on the winder comes off because an inner part breaks in half. It's not broken. Find the two pieces of plastic and put then together in the slot on the winder, then shove the handle back on. It's not the best design, but it works -- just don't pull on the handle, or it will come off.Finally to the cutter. The directions are almost non-existent, and those that are there are a laughable, unintelligible translation from Chinese. A real hoot. Basically follow these rules:1) Only one set of hands on the cutter, period.2) Use in good light.3) Raise the compression bar enough to insert your sheaf, sheets, or book4) Align the intended cut with the blade5) Lower the compression bar enough to keep paper from moving.6) Release the latch, pull on the handle, then re-raise the handle until it latches. Voila.I use this cutter to de-spine books and manuals for scanning. It chomps through anything I can get under the bar -- perhaps an inch-and-a-half -- like butter, and produces a clean cut. I have scanned a hundred thousand pages using this cutter. For the record, I use the cutter without the plastic safety shield -- it's much easier to see what I'm doing -- but reinstall the shield when the cutter isn't in use: the blade is sharp!.I can add that I took the first cutter apart trying to repair it on my own. I liked the engineering I saw. There's nothing "cheap" about this cutter for the price. Good luck with yours.

This paper cutter is a beast. I haven't tried 400 pages but I have cut through up to 100 pages, pretty easily. My only complaint is that the paper guide shifts. I was doing production cuts, not measuring vlevery time, just bumping against the guide and made several slightly slanted cuts before I realized it. Being aware that you need to check the guide is just something you need to do before every cut. Also, unless you really clamp it down hard, the paper will shift. It's also not great for just cutting a few sheets at a time...probably a smaller rotary cutter would be better for that. But if you're careful and watch your measurements, this is a great cutter.

After using an old paper cutter for many years, one that could only handle a few pages, this replacement was amazing. It truly does cut through a stack of paper with no issues. It is quite heavy but works like a charm. And we love the storage on it for tools etc and the ability to remove the lever when we're not using it.

The media could not be loaded. I called hardware factory supply in California on August 15th to ask about getting their 17 inch guietine cutter warrantied. The platen or the piece that you crank down to hold the paper tight has bent as it will not hold paper tight or flat. This is a solid piece of metal bolted together it should not warp or bend, but it has done both and in doing so stripped the bolts from being able to hold securely. Upon calling multiple different extensions as no one would answer, I was finally greeted by a women named Vicky who once I explained my issue to she asked me if she could have a different sales person call me back. Strange, possibly deflection but I agreed as possibly she may not have known the answer. So I called back to a different extension and she (Vicky) answered again. I asked ok so who could I speak with then. She exclaimed “geez you didn’t even give me a minute,” and put me on hold. Horrible customer service example one. She came back on and gave me an email to a women named Shirley and asked me to send her my order number, date purchased, and the item number. I went a few steps above and provided a picture of the issue as well as my invoice. No response from this Shirley person instead someone named Zora Hong from China intercepted the email and began the whole thing all over. First asking for everything I already provided. In my first email I explained that I had already tried trouble shooting to see if it was something to be fixed. The next email from Zora 24 hours later was asking me to try trouble shooting from the guides provided online. I already had and had just told them this. The next email which was the next day 24 hours later asked if I really needed to be using it where it was loose and if I could cut further down. What?? No I want to use the product how it was intended. Now after pictures and asking if they will uphold their warranty a full 24 hours later they are wanting a video to send to their factory to confirm. This is the video I provided in this review. The reason this is going on like this is because they have a 1 year warranty which I purchased the cutter on September 7th, 2023 it is August 19th 2024, so as you can see they are purposely dragging this on by responding to one email every 24 hours to try and go past the warranty date. My advice do not buy anything from this company as they are a complete joke and the products they sell match the customer service I am receiving. I Have had to buy 4 of these in the last 5 years, this year I noticed they had the warranty and wanted to use it since the problem occurred within the warranty time frame. the unfortunate part is of all the cutters available on Bolo they are all the same, just with different company logos. I went with HFS because I assumed them having a US presence and being in many other sectors it would be a better customer experience. Boy was I wrong, learn from my mistake and do not buy anything from HFS. Horrible value horrible customer service and absolutely zero accountability for their customers who keep them in business.

BEFORE EXECUTING ITS MISSION, THE LOCK BUTTON HAS TO BE PRESSED.THE DOWNSIDE - THE TOOL BOX. SEALED BEYOND MACHINE EXTRACTING PRESSURE. ANS REMAINS SO. THE MEASURING BAR, WONT'S LOCK. SUSPICION FALLS ON INCOMPLETE ASSEMBLY. CAN BE WORKED AROUND, BUT THE PRICE SUGGEST A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION BE TAKEN BEFORE LEAVING FACTORY.PROVIDING THE BLADE HAS A SATISFACTORY LIFE SPAN, NO INDICATION TO THE SERVITUDE OF CHOPS - THEN I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO A SATISFACTORY RELATIONSHIP.IF NOT, NOTICE WILL BE SHARED ON THIS PLATFORM.

if you do a lot of paper trimming, especially book edges, treat yourself and your shoulders to this tool! I love it. I do a lot of book making and it has saved me so much time, energy and frustration. Straight edges every time with little effort.

El producto llegó a tiempo tal como lo indicaba el día de su compra, viene muy bien embalado y con las refacciones/piezas necesarias. Es un producto pesado, y de muy buena calidad hay que tener cuidado al sacarlo de la caja, y manipularlo cuidando que la navaja/palanca siempre esté hacia abajo para evitar accidentes.

本体がかなり頑丈で、よく切れます。全紙を半切に切断するのに使用しています。画仙紙は折り畳まれているため、ずれやすく少しコツがいります。枚数を少なめの10枚程度、押さえはしっかりすることで、きれいに切れました。半端なサイズも半紙に裁断したりと、便利です。置く場所さえ確保できれば、とてもオススメの商品です！
