I put this metallic contact paper on the back of a wooden chest of drawers. The front/top/sides of the chest were (and still are) painted but the back was unfinished wood with lots of writing and stains on it from decades of use. I've recently rearranged my furniture and the back isn't next to a wall anymore so it needed sprucing up. I also tried a small piece on my metal/ceramic coated oven and it stuck well, and removed easily the next day, so it seems to work on appliances too (as pictured in the description).The contact paper is as described. There's a page of instructions on how to apply it, which has some useful tips. The tips suggest using a scraper to remove any bubbles as you apply the paper, and using a cutter blade to trim off any excess. Tips also say to remove the backing in small areas at a time, and smooth out bubbles from the center to the edges; don't pull the whole backing off at once. I found those tips very useful. The scraper and cutter blade are not included. I used a pastry scraper (anything with a firm straight edge will do); the scraper covered with a handkerchief, and the edge of my hand, and all worked for me as long as I took my time. The metal pastry scraper didn't leave marks on the shiny metallic surface, which was a pleasant surprise -- I used minimum pressure and didn't let the pointy corners of the scraper dig in at all.The paper has grid lines printed on the back, which is a great help for measuring and cutting the piece off the roll. I needed two strips to cover the entire dresser back and was able to make an almost invisible vertical seam by applying the contact paper slowly and carefully.A small thing that I appreciate a lot is that the tape that holds the paper to the roll comes off the paper without leaving a mark, so I didn't have to waste an inch or so of the end -- I can use all the paper on the roll. It's a pet peeve of mine when using wrapping paper or contact paper, and it makes me happy that this contact paper doesn't have that problem.With 100 feet of contact paper, I might cover the sides and top of the dresser too. The shiny surface is cheerful and very shiny, it has already resisted water spills and a bit of flying ketchup without staining (don't ask), so it seems to resist marks and stains better than the white paint on the rest of the dresser. I'm waiting to get used to the shiny back first before I go ahead, but I'm liking it more each day.Like any contact paper, do take your time applying it and getting out the bubbles -- it's worth the initial effort and care. I'm very happy with how my dresser turned out, and recommend this contact paper.
