Review:

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Educational Resource to learn about GUT health

A.C. · November 19, 2024

This book offers a wealth of knowledge on gut health, enhanced by vibrant illustrations that engage and captivate diverse learners. Designed to be accessible to readers without a medical background, it presents complex information in a digestible and visually appealing way. It is an exceptional resource for educators, curriculum developers, and students, providing accurate and engaging content that supports meaningful learning. As a STEM enthusiast, I admire how the book seamlessly combines education with accessible science. Teachers and curriculum developers should incorporate it into lessons on gut health to ensure students gain a clear understanding without misconceptions.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have book for bio hackers

O.M.K. · April 12, 2024

The media could not be loaded. As someone who is deeply interested in their own health and find ways to buy a Hacket, the gut has become a big area of interest from many BioHackers. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of good reliable sources out there and the ones that are are way too clinical and too long-winded. This book comprises everything you know about the gut in a way that’s understandable with beautiful pictures and most commonly asked questions. Well done Dr. Chiang!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Information

C. · August 21, 2024

This book has a lot of information but it did not have information on skin disorders or allergies. It was also annoying to constantly read that there are no studies or concrete information about certain disorders. Why does it take decades for the medical field to catch up with the misery that many patients are suffering from? In my opinion, leaky gut is very much a valid disorder, yet doctors will dismiss you if you try to have a conversation about it. After many years, doctors are barely warming up to the fact that gluten causes skin disorders and that a gluten free diet is not just a fad diet. Doctors get angry and annoyed when people get medical information from the internet but sometimes consumers have no other choice since medical advice is so slow to catch up with actual patient problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Gut Insights

m. · July 23, 2025

A handy book to understand your gut. If you like anatomy, this is a good one. Lots of info about how food is processed and exits the body. Discussion on challenges as well as treatments. So much is missing from our standard education system. This book is a good way to get more insights without an overly academic presentation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Comprehensive Read that Educates Everyone

W.E.F. · April 10, 2024

A practical and logical guide to the gut that can be read by both professionals and those was just curious about what’s going on in their body.Grounded in good basic science it is a must read for anyone who is interested in all things related to digestion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent

5.0 out of 5 stars Prioritizing my GUT!

D. · April 15, 2024

A wonderful guide, beautifully written, with a plethora of easy to understand information. A must read for your preventive health management. Your digestive system will love you! I ordered a copy for myself and gifted three copies to friends. We have had the best conversations about our GUT!

3.0 out of 5 stars Content is great; text is hard to read

m. · April 28, 2024

I use reading glasses with a moderate magnification (2.0), and I found the book print to be too tiny to read comfortably. The colored paper and sans-serif font made this even harder. It's really attractive, but not easily accessible to read, unfortunately.Despite that, the content of the book was good; it flowed well and was understandable. I appreciated the technical and non-technical explanations, the straightforward illustrations, and the "Your Questions Answered" sections. I appreciate how the author ties the digestive system together from end to end (literally), so you can see it's not just the esophagus, stomach and intestines. Lots of things are at play.I'd encourage the publisher to consider accessibility and offer an edition that's actually readable, because this content could really change or save someone's life.

Fantastic Guide

This book does a great job of breaking everything down into easy to understand information.

A Shrunken Book With Microscopic Text

S. · June 12, 2024

I really hate leaving a three star rating because this is a superb book, covering a very important topic that should be of interest to everyone. De-mystifying the gut and educating people on the huge role of the microbiome in maintaining human health is a noble cause. Why then print the book is such a tiny format that the text becomes microscopic? The aim should be making the information as accessible as possible, but this miniaturised book achieves the opposite.I get the distinct impression that this book was typeset with the intention of it being printed in a larger format. It feels like the bean counters have come along and insisted on reduced production costs by shrinking the thing. If this was printed in the normal large size I'm used to with DK books it would have been perfect. In this edition though it's a strain, and that detracts greatly from my experience. I find the book annoying as a result, which is a huge shame.Fingers crossed that future editions will be printed in a larger format. This one has been ruined by the accountants.

Small writing but informative

r. · October 2, 2024

Having been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis I wanted to know more about what goes on inside the gut as it’s very strange having a condition you can not see what is going on.The book is very informative but not in an overly medical wordy was so it was easy to understand and having the pictures alongside the text to help visualise what you are reading. My only one negative which isn’t the authors fault more the publishers is the small text.
