The notion of `time' pulls through the program like a theme, connecting music from different parts of the world - traditionals, popular songs and original compositions - in performances of deep lyricism but also fleet-footed folklore. (Albums before them were mostly Albanian and Kosovo folk songs played by her previous jazz band: sad songs with beautiful melodies.) This newer band with Luft still has the gentle lilt to their longing or heartache - but maybe a little more lift to it. I'm so pleased with the songs they are writing as well. After all of her albums and bands I still haven't found a single song I don't deeply enjoy.
