We kept a big clear plastic food storage container under the sink for the first four months, and it was a pain because we had to work to pull off the lid that sealed on, something you don't want to do when you've got food garbage in your hand. The thing got gross, so I ordered this cute container to replace it. It comes with a small bucket inside of the decorative can. I love that you can pull the bucket out by the drop handle when you want to dump it and not have to touch the bucket. My husband doesn't care for it because the bucket is smaller than the yucky container we were using, but I love it and I've now taken over the job of emptying it. We keep a five-gallon bucket with a lid in the garage and I take the small bucket out once a day, sometimes more often, and dump it into the big bucket, which we dump into the trash can just before trash pick-up. The bucket in the cute can is easy to just rinse out in the sink, and sometimes I clean it with some disinfectant spray and wipe it with a paper towel. The outside can is easy to wipe down if and when it gets anything on it. I bought a package of the filters that go into the lid, and I've only changed it once in the two months that we've had it. It does not stink at all. With the lid on, which includes a handle that sticks up, it fits under the large garbage disposal under our sink. I do have to pull it out to the floor to dump things in it, or I am perfectly comfortable putting it in the sink or on the countertop when I'm chopping vegetables and creating a lot of food refuse. It's so cute and clean that I don't mind it being on the countertop, though I don't want to keep it there all the time; it is a garbage can, after all. I highly recommend it for a home kitchen; it's well made and is very attractive, especially considering that it's a garbage can. You can get larger ones, but I liked the looks of this one and needed a short one to fit under our disposal. I looked at a lot on-line and this had the largest refuse can for its height. If you create a tremendous amount of food garbage, however, this one may be too small for you. As for me, it's perfect.

love it, it is just the right size, lid seals well, has filter in the top, easy to open, inside canister comes out has its own handle to. keeps the nasty smells under control, easy to clean, built very well. built very well nice slick paint job on the outside.

This bin is just what I was looking for when I started composting - a cute container that can sit on the kitchen counter to collect food scraps. I like that it has a removable inner bucket that is easy to take out to be emptied and washed. It also came with a charcoal filter that fits fairly loosely in the inside of the lid.2 minor issues:1. The charcoal filter falls out pretty easily. Mine fell out when I was emptying the bin and I didn’t notice until it was too late. If the filter was just a little bigger it would stay in better, I think2. The wire handle for the inner bucket was too small to stay out of the bucket - it hung down inside. I tried to reshape it so it would rest on the top edge of the bucket as intended, but then it didn’t fit in the holes it attaches to. I ended up just removing the handle and it’s usable without it.

Love this countertop compost bin! It’s cute, practical, and makes it so easy to store the compost until there is enough to walk it to the outside bin. And there’s no smell. Very satisfied with this purchase!

I got this to replace the OXO one that I had. I really like that the bucket comes out so that you can clean it. It's a bit small even for being in a two-person household, but at the same time, you don't exactly want it hanging in your kitchen for a long time either. It's really cute on the counter and I like that it's labeled a compost so that even visitors can use it because they know what it's for! It was a bit pricey for what I would have expected, but do like it and think the filter aspect is nice too!

Clean look with easy to remove pail. Pail can also hold compostable bag that can be removed to toss in garbage container. Filter size should be the 5" size instead of the 6.7 size. If the larger size is ordered the filters are easy to cut with scissors.

Wonderful compost bin.
I loved this cute bin. It's just the right size for me and I keep it in the larder. The size means that I don't keep the contents too long before emptying them. Much more hygenic. And it keeps the fruit flies away.I like having the inner bin which is easy to clean and also the insert to stop any smells. Both bins have handles too which makes them easy to carry to where I am going to use it.
