The Codependency Recovery Workbook: A12-Week Master Plan to Stop Being Codependent and Start Loving Yourself (Breaking Free from Toxic Relationships)

Description:

Here’s how to break free from the bonds of codependency so you can become your best self and thrive in life.

Do you give too much in your relationships that you’ve started to lose your sense of self?

Does your loved one always rely on you for help, but refuse to reciprocate your efforts whenever you need them?

Do you care so much about their feelings to the point where it impacts your life choices?

These are just some of the signs that you might be in a codependent relationship. Other signs include disrespecting your decisions, blaming you for things that aren’t your fault, and making you hesitate to express your needs.

Being in this toxic relationship can drain you and hinder your growth as an individual. It can make you feel unworthy and unloved… and guilty every time you try to say no to their demands that threaten your self-respect and self-worth.

But remember this: In a healthy relationship, the other person should make you feel loved and respected without you having to beg for it… and vice versa. It would also be easier for you to develop healthy behaviors when you choose to be in positive relationships.

But in order to do this, you first need to leave what isn’t working — your codependent relationship will stop you from being true to yourself, achieving your personal goals, and nurturing your self-esteem.

Let this book help you recover from codependency, rebuild yourself, and live a life that is true to your values and beliefs.

Inside, you will discover:

  • How you develop a codependent personality — and the first step to recovering from codependency
  • 10 symptoms of codependency — know which symptoms you have and need to work on
  • How you can save yourself from an abusive person in a safe manner
  • How to regain control over your emotions to prevent them from ruining your life
  • What narcissism is and why narcissists attract those with a codependent personality
  • How to set boundaries to build a sense of security and stop others from taking advantage of you
  • What you can do to free your mind from intrusive thoughts so you can stop them from dragging you down
  • How to communicate what you feel without offending the other person

And much more.

This guide also offers self-reflection activities to help you increase your self-awareness and allow you to identify and release repressed emotions… empowering you to live your life according to your authentic self.

It’s time to love yourself even more so you can carefully choose the people you surround yourself with. After all, you deserve to have healthy relationships and be happier in life.

"If you want to change, this book is your first step" - Sarah L. Hahn
Change is scary and difficult. It's easy to stay in the pits of codependency. I know, I've been actively codependent for 40 years. It's scary to take time out for yourself. You'll feel selfish and wrong for it, but in reality, it's YOUR life you're making better and by making your own life better, you'll show up for more people.

Thanks to this book, I've learned so much in the last 12 weeks. I've grown tremendously. And I've been taking action to keep moving forward for a healthy life and healthy relationships. I strongly suggest this book. ❤️

From the Author

Q1: I'm already in therapy, will this workbook still be useful?
A: Instead of just talking about your challenges, the workbook guides you to reflect, write, and respond through step-by-step exercises — the same types therapists use during structured sessions.

Q2: Can this really help with my codependent traits?
A: People-pleasing, self-neglect, guilt, emotional fusion, difficulty setting boundaries — these are deep patterns, often developed over years. But they're not unchangeable. This workbook helps you gently unpack those layers and reconnect with your authentic self.

Q3: How is this workbook different from other self-help books?
A: It's not passive — it's interactive. You won't just read. You'll write, reflect, challenge your thoughts, and take small actions that build real-life change. It's structured, but human.
No rigid rules. No complicated psychology speak. Just clear prompts, short explanations, and compassionate guidance that feels personal.

Q4: I'm overwhelmed. Where should I start?
A: You'll never be asked to "fix everything." The pages are small steps, not giant leaps. You're not asked to solve your entire emotional history — just to reflect, feel, and write, one prompt at a time.

Q5: I'm super busy. Will I realistically be able to do this?
A: One reflection. One awareness. One choice to do something differently. That's all it takes to start shifting your mindset.

Q6: What are the most important tools that come with the book?
    • Self-soothing and grounding techniques;
    • Personal values clarification tools
    • Daily practices to build self-trust and self-worth
    • Step-by-step self-reflection prompts

Q7: Is this workbook backed by science?
A: The exercises, tools, and concepts in this workbook are based on time-tested, clinically supported approaches such as:
      • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
      • Attachment Theory
      • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

I picked this book up because I realized I was giving far too much of myself in relationships and felt like I had lost track of who I was. What I appreciated most is how clearly it explained not just what codependency looks like, but why it develops in the first place. Seeing my own patterns laid out on the page was both painful and freeing—it gave me the awareness I needed to finally start making changes. The sections on boundary-setting and regaining control over emotions were especially valuable for me. They offered practical tools I could use right away, and the self-reflection exercises really helped me recognize where I was holding on to guilt or resentment. I also liked how the author tied in narcissism and power imbalances in relationships—it made so much sense of why I kept getting drawn into the same unhealthy dynamics.

While gender equality has made immense advances over recent years, and women are enjoying a much more equal position in wider society, the gender gap still exists, and it is even more prevalent in certain societies. Cultural viewpoints are often what suppress women in certain communities, and as women have to live up to the expectation that they put the needs of others first, they can slip into codependent relationships much more easily.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good info and plan

      d.r. · August 31, 2025

I can't deny that there may be some good advice (and a plan) that may work for many couples. It didn't feel very personal to me, though...almost like a carbon copy of other books I've read, and a bit repetitive/boring in the writing style. It might be good for you if it's your first book of this type.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book made me choosing myself, finally

      P. · September 3, 2025

Clear, honest, and exactly what I needed. This book helped me spot the signs of codependency and gave me real tools to break free. I feel more grounded, more confident, and way less guilty for putting myself first. If you’ve been giving too much for too long, you should read this.

A Simple but Powerful Guide to Self-Discovery

      F. · August 28, 2025

This book really surprised me. It offers simple self-reflection exercises that helped me look within and become aware of emotions I didn’t even realize I was holding on to. The best part is that it doesn’t just stay in theory—it actually encourages you to let go of what no longer serves you and to reconnect with yourself in a very natural way. It’s an easy read, engaging, and brings a sense of calm. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to know themselves better and live more authentically.

I was able to connect and feel heard about my codependency dynamic. What I love most about this book is how clearly it's written, with straightforward, actionable steps on how to begin to heal from this very painful interpersonal pattern. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more and healing from codependency.

I can't deny that there may be some good advice (and a plan) that may work for many couples. It didn't feel very personal to me, though...almost like a carbon copy of other books I've read, and a bit repetitive/boring in the writing style. It might be good for you if it's your first book of this type.

This book is so good, I bought two more for friends who saw it and were instantly hooked. I just exited a three year relationship with someone I moved across the country with a year and a half ago. After reading this book, I can say it was extremely enlightening. I was able to connect and feel heard about my codependency dynamic. What I love most about this book is how clearly it's written, with straightforward, actionable steps on how to begin to heal from this very painful interpersonal pattern. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more and healing from codependency.
