5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT and functional carry on
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I’ve taken this 20-inch Hanke Grace expandable carry-on on three trips so far (two business hops to New York and a long weekend to Denver). Here’s why it earned a permanent spot in my overhead-bin arsenal:What impressed me:• Front “book-style” laptop door fits my 16″ MacBook (plus charger & tablet) without opening the main compartment. In flight, I could grab the laptop, work, and slide it back without needing to bring down my whole suitcase - what a great function and design!• Light but tough PC shell – 5.5 lb empty. After a rain-slick jet bridge and two curb-to-gate sprints, the case still looks showroom-new.• 41 L capacity, expands to ~51 L. I packed four days of clothes plus running shoes; the 2-inch zipper gusset swallowed the extra souvenirs on the way home (+ value).Minor drawbacks (and easy fixes):• The laptop hatch is shallow; if you over-stuff the main cavity the door fights back. Pack bulkiest items at the wheel end and it closes fine.• At full expansion it can get top-heavy; keep shoes at the base to stay upright.* Verdict *If you travel a few times a year you can get by with cheaper ABS cases—but frequent flyers who value organization, durability, and slick looks will appreciate what Hanke built here. After multiple gate agents, 4+ security scans, and countless sidewalk miles, I’m confident this suitcase will outlast the airline stickers on it.Would I buy it again? Absolutely—and I’m eyeing the 26″ checked size next.
5.0 out of 5 stars Honestly in love with this suitcase
The media could not be loaded. Purchased this as a carry on suitcase as I started traveling a lot (domestically) for work. I wanted something that was versitale and easy to navigate with and would stand up well on it's own without tipping over. I was also looking for something that would be easy to bring through security and remove my laptop/tablet from without having to dig around in a backpack and would be easy to access without having to open the entire suitcase. This not only nailed every checkbox but the more I travel with it, the more I love it. I have had to check and gate check this several times and while it obviously is going to get some scuffs on it being white, I have been very impressed with how well it has held up. It's easy to manipulate for overhead storage on flights, lightweight enough that I don't worry about navigating with it, and easily fits an extended weekend's worth of items (plus souveniers) without being over stuffed. I mainly travel with my 12.9" tablet, but will occasionally need to travel with my 15.6" laptop which it does fit in the front pocket but the velcro strap is pulled pretty tight to secure it. It can be difficult to use this for both my laptop AND tablet, as the front pocket is not deep enough to securely seat my tablet. It could probably handle a smaller one.Depending on how much you fill the front, you will lose space on the inside, so keep that in mind. The locks are easy to manipulate and changing the code was simple.Overall, I am so incredibly pleased with how easy I can now navigate the airport and fly with my items. Security has become a breeze. It is holding up incredibly well for being white, despite having to be checked and gate checked several times now and it rolls like butter. I was so impressed that I purchased a larger version to use for longer trips. I have navigated airports with 3 sets of luggage without oscillating wheels and not only was it a major pain in the rear end but I was actually bruised from handling them. These have made my flights SO much easier!!!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality but some compromises...
I got the 20 inch front pocket suitcase in the greyish blue color.Huge pluses:- beautiful grey-blue color and textured surface- sturdy shell! Strong enough for me to sit on top of and roll a bit (but I'm 110-120lb). I researched so so many suitcases online and 99% of 20" suitcases are NOT sturdy enough for sitting on comfortably. Edge case, I know, but I thought it was important to me.- The wheels are SO smooth!- unique top opening design is easier to pack than traditional clamshell designs and fits on hotel luggage racks- handle seems okay? Though I didn't test it much.- Carry on sizing! With wheels and handles I roughly measured the exterior dimensions as 22"x14"x9.5". The half inch probably doesn't matter so I'd say this is one of very few suitcases on the Bolo that actually meets carry-on sizes. (Cough cough, Samsonite carry on suitcases never meet the size!)- given the sturdiness, price point seems pretty decent but I'd be hesitant to pay more than $150 unless zipper design is fixed.I was honestly on the fence about returning because of being able to sit on it (airports don't have enough seating!) and because wheels are so good. However, I ended up returning this after a lot of deliberation. Here's why:- I really disliked the zippers and zipper pulls, and was not confident that they'd last. The weird wavy/angled design of the zipper pulls (which only makes sense for locking) made it a little hard to zip compared to straight zippers that are shorter. I would much prefer standard zippers and for the TSA lock to be on the side instead.- while top opening design is great and the size is true carry on, it comes at the cost of really tiny interior packing space. Granted, I'm used to a fabric carryon without 360 wheels, so that's not a fair comparison, but I feel like this suitcase wouldn't fit much more than a large backpack's worth.- in this particular model I did not like the implementation of the front pocket. You have to open the first compartment, then unzip again to get to your actual clothes. It just felt cumbersome and odd to me, even though I'm not constantly opening and closing my suitcase interior that much.- Not expandable, in case you need that flexibility. Probably good to have some give, but that'd sacrifice the other feature of being able to sit on it.- a bit pricey for the compromises (mainly the zipper design)- Other reviews said warranty and customer service is not good and isn't honored? But that's minor to me.TLDR - while there's a lot of great benefits, I ended up returning because the suitcase zippers don't seem sturdy, and I think I need a little more space in my carry-on than this neat front opening design allows for. That is ultimately why I will not end up buying the no-front-pocket one. It's very hard to have perfect product design and this case's innovative design comes very close, but not good enough for me. So I'm going to keep looking, and at this point I'm convinced I have to get a clamshell if I want to prioritize space :(---Update 3/25/24:I ended up with Quince's carry-on which is a clamshell and is actually cheaper than this one. Clamshell definitely took some getting used to, but when it's open I can actually prop the top half up against the wall or luggage rack so it is kind of like a top opening suitcase. It caves /flexes in a bit at the zipper when sitting on top, but I'm confident it wouldn't break that way, unlike many other clamshells (including Samsonite!).So if you think you're resistant to a clamshell like I was, just find a good quality one to try out and see if you can make it work. I've been quite happy with my Quince one, and have used it at least 4 times now.Or if you absolutely need the ability to sit on your suitcase without fear of it collapsing, and you're ok with having less packable space in your carry-on, then this Hanke case would be great for you!

My daughter bought this for me and it's perfect for weekend getaways.

Good one
I like this luggage because it does not take so much space when open. It looks surat too. Do be using it in 2 weeks. Highly recommended.
Good little luggage
This is a sleek and sturdy little luggage with good wheels. You have to have good wheels or travelling sucks. It fits a lot too! Except you can’t use the sleeve pockets on the inside of it for more than laptop etc if you have the suitcase filled. All in all though super good for the price
Great look and easy roller
Cool looking case, the wheels are great. However the zipper seems suspect you have to be careful with it. Wish that the front part was it's own compartment as the snaps come undone. Thought for the price it would be better quality Great for carry on would not check it in.
