This is my 2nd Sanitaire upright sweeper. It is a great vacuum, but the assembly of it is a nightmare! Directions aren't very clear, plus the plastic parts are incredibly hard to attach. When not in use, the prong holderfor the plug will not fit the cord. I have to wrap it under the cord.

I absolutely love this vacuum. I used to have dogs and this pulled a lot of hair out of my carpet. Compared to my old vacuum, this is commercial grade, meaning the motor is directly on top of the brush. When using a vibra groomer 2, style brush, you can feel it vibrating a couple inches behind the vacuum.

The height adjustment on my 30 year old Sanitaire no longer works, so I bought this item as a replacement. The assembly process on the new unit I rec'd yesterday was not particularly easy. Years ago, I did my own maintenance on various cars and motorcycles, so I have some mechanical ability. The gasket between the bag assembly chute and the main body of the machine was misapplied or shifted during shipment. Even though I very carefully lifted the gasket, the strong adhesive holding it in the wrong position still caused the gasket to tear. I believe it will still seal ok but it should not have been necessary to fiddle with it. Plus, the plastic hook pieces that snap on the metal handle require a fair amount of hand strength to lock into place. The machine does seem to vacuum ok. It is lightweight, mostly I suspect because the main housing is plastic, versus metal on my old Sanitaire. So far, I'm reasonably satisfied with the performance of the machine but found the assembly process somewhat difficult. If you have little mechanical aptitude and/or limited hand strength I would not recommend this model.

After years of using bagless vacuums and having wash the filters I love going back to a bagged vacuum. This vacuum has incredible suction power and is very light weight. Does a great job on all heights of carpet and hardwood.
