5.0 out of 5 stars These storage crates are amazing
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I originally got the full set of the MTM Ammo Crates for a move and would also be handy for storage in the car, camping, gear storage, outdoor gear storage, tool storage, hunting gear storage, range gear storage, on hell of a day at the range ammo transport and storage chest etc. These crates all seemed to be a perfect size for the stuff I got to move with. So perfect I end up buying several of the various sizes and configurations that worked best for my needs and I ended up with a dozen of these because of the quality, price , durability and the ammount of weight that it can hold. Would I recommend these crates heck yes and I have. I have a friend that's a landscaper and they bought a bunch of the MTM crates to use as a truck bed organizer for his truck cab and bed for the various auto emergency kits, tools and important documents storage and job documents such as landscape design blueprints showing the layout of the new landscaping and patios/decks etc. As well as other important things. I even showed a few of my boat captains who then sold the boat owner on getting them to use for first aid gear, boat logs and docs, emergency gear and the captains and the crews personal lockers for their foul weather gear and other personal equipment like night vision and thermal scopes for search and rescue equipment. These crates are definitely going to protect your gear from the typical bumps and stuff but there is no included pull and pluck foam like a pelican case but these are several hundred dollars less expensive for simmaler items. But if you are wealthy then go with pelican because they are the best and I have several of their crates for electronics and firearms and they are worth every penny for expedition grade cases. But these are just fine to transport gear and as trunk organizers and for the price you won't find a better case than MTM. They are water resistant and will keep your gear dry but lack pressure valves so I probably wouldn't trust it much deeper than 10 to 20 feet of water. While they will do pretty much everything that the expensive pelican case products go is that pelican is expedition grade while MTM is commuter grade. But it is what it is but you will not go wrong with these and they make Rubbermaid and other plastic storage containers look like ziplock storage containers. I am getting ready to buy a bunch more to use for storage down in the basement and out in the greenhouse for fertilizers and other garden stuff that needs to stay dry and in a safe manner to prevent the dogs or kids from getting into anything that they shouldn't be messing around with. We used the crates as food storage containers when the kids were little and we would take camping trips as a family. But now that the kids are grown and married we use one of the camping tubs when we are traveling with our 3 Boxers that love to travel. We use this tub to store their kibble and the food and water bowls. While another holds their toys, coats and other stuff like extra leashes.I told a friend who has a jeep Wrangler and he ended up measuring the space behind the rear seat and purchased the appropriate sized storage crates to fit between the seat and the tailgate door. He also raised the rear seat by about 1.5 inches so he could put a tub under the rear seat for the recovery equipment. While the tubs took up some room, they also left the perfect gap to secure several grocery bags worth of stuff. Between the seat ;back and the rear door of the Jeep.
5.0 out of 5 stars I love everything about it!
Just like all of the positives said, it's a good deal.I would buy this again, it's a very nice box and it does do exactly what it says it will do, for me, anyway.I used my $15.00 I had on my credit card points and so it only cost me $1.93, so I am happy about that.I was thinking about waiting until AFTER the New Year to get it, then I saw that it was discounted for Christmas (or, not) and maybe I needed to get it at the price now, which just a little over $15.00...It's entirely possible that the price was upped BEFORE Christmas, but, we'll see, if it is lower AFTER Christmas, then I will pprobably get another. At any rate, it's worth $15.00 for sure, it's a really nice size too, at least for what I have planned, storing gun related things in it, maybe even some ammo in some MTM ammo cases, which, I also love.I have not noticed anyone talking about the colors, Flat Dark Earth (FDE) is one of the hardest colors to stabilize I have found. It's always all over the place, sometimes Coyote Brown is called FDE.This time though, I am pretty happy, I have a KelTec 2000 that has some FDE on it, they match pretty close. It's not like it's THAT important, but when you buy stuff it's always better if the colors match, rather than not. Tacky is still tacky... :)The dividers do not bother me, I read where some said they are disappointed, it's fine for my purposes, although, I can relate to what was said.My thoughts on that is, if you look CLOSER you can see some ways to remedy that. (See my (5) pictures)Grab one of the partitions and try and place it anywhere, you will quickly see that it's not going to fit right, not yet, anyway. The 'guides' that the partitions insert into are spaced evenly, but looking closer you will see other options. Try and place the partition in places that you can squeeze it into.Doing this, you can tell that there are rectangular 'bumps' on each side of the "guides" on the VERTICAL walls.Insert the partitions into areas that DO NOT have that the "bumps". The partitions will fit.The downside is, on the bottom of each partition it is not supported as it is when inserted into the guides, but, it's better than nothing. (My explanations probably make this harder than it is, if so, just look at the pictures)There are places that ARE supported though, keep looking and you can see areas right next to the guides that you can insert the partition and it works fine and IT IS supported. The drawback is, you just can't do that anywhere that you might want them.Anyway, play around with that information and see what you come up with, I don't have a real need to move the partitions so without placing things in there I can't foresee it all.I took some pictures to hopefully explain it all a little better. There are 5 pictures (Numbered in the center in RED)_______________________________________________________________________________________(1) I start out showing how you can fit 'some things' in it by repositioning the partitions.Notice the GREEN boxes showing the partitions and their guides._______________________________________________________________________________________(2) I show the box in this example with the NORMAL SPACING of the partitions in place and how it looks with some of my random stuff in it. If you notice, the LARGE BLUE box of .22 ammo doesn't fit.(I apologize, I have TWO blue boxes of .22 ammo, the large one has the ammo facing downward, so it 'may' get kind of confusing)_______________________________________________________________________________________(3) In this example, the LARGE GREEN box of ammo is too large to fit even still, it's actually too long AND too wide to fit into the original spacing of the partitions._______________________________________________________________________________________(4) I removed ONLY ONE partition on the left, it is STILL too long and too wide to fit without removing the middle partition. Please notice that only ONE partitions was removed._______________________________________________________________________________________(5) After removing the middle partition, the LONG GREEN ammo box now fits.I moved the middle partition over to the right NEXT to the guide less than 1", it will be good enough for most people I would think if used this way. It won't be perfect, but it is stable enough to have more stuff that you want in the box without cutting, drilling, or whatever...Also, PLEASE NOTE that the LARGE GREEN ammo box is now laying flat on the bottom and I have stacked *** 200 .22 LR on top of it. ***The GREEN BOX underneath appears to be TWO boxes, it's just segmented, it has two lids, but is only one box. It's also a MTM brand ammo box for 9mm ammo._______________________________________________________________________________________***NOTE*** If you have the BLUE MTM 100 count 9mm boxes you can place 200 .22's in there, place one normally, then add the second one in the same hole but pointed downwards. You can always do that with ANY brand of ammo boxes. All it is, you just stick TWO bullets into the area where one bullet would go.(That part was another REVIEWERS helpful tip)That is one way, but I just have them ALL facing downwards, when you do it like this it creates a pretty round pattern. You're welcome! :)I really, REALLY hope that you find this useful and I didn't confuse you, it was even complicated for me to make this, so I hope that you are smarter than I am! :)
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect.
This is a nice handy case especially for your car. Locks are nice and sturdy for ABS plastic. The dividers are removable, and this is good for anything of your transportation needs. I’m using this for an emergency kit if in the event I am stranded in the car or stuck out in the middle of nowhere and unable to access out or in - snowstorm, blinding rains and run off the road, car trouble in the countryside…etc-I was able to put many essential things I. This to stow away - and it keeps all of the contents safe and dry. It has a great seal, and the color of the box is unobtrusive… I was able to put long term power bars(3 days worth, compass, knife, medical kit, a small tarp, flashlight, fire starter kit, 300 ft 550 para cord, new pair of socks, compass- a brush cutting tool to start a fire or cut down brush of the car was stuck, and a self contained filtration container for water drinking… plus a few other survival items for a SHTF situation…(Thanks Sootch00).Works perfectly… great concept/container.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for My Vehicle Emergency Kit – Solid and Reliable
I bought this case to hold an emergency kit I keep in my vehicle, and it’s honestly perfect. The size is just right — compact enough to tuck away neatly, but spacious enough to fit everything I need: first aid supplies, tools, emergency supplies, and a few extras. What really impressed me is how solid and well-built it feels. The lid seals tightly, which gives me peace of mind knowing everything inside stays protected from dust, moisture, and temperature changes. It’s rugged without being bulky, and the divided compartments make organization super easy. This was exactly what I was looking for, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one if I needed it. Highly recommend for anyone needing secure, organized storage on the go!
