The lever allows you to brake the tape, allowing you stretch the tape for a tight seal. This is just like the tape gun I used in the shipping department, only this is made of metal, not plastic. This two pack of metal tape dispensers was exactly what I needed because I was absolutely fed up with the plastic ones always breaking. I absolutely recommend these if you are still using the plastic ones. They are sturdy, work well, and the value is there. They are of course a bit heavier than the plastic ones but in a good way. They're not flimsy! The little teeth on the inside of the dispenser don't really work to hold the tape in place but not why I bought it and overall it solved my cheap plastic problem and I highly recommend!

The rolls go on easy (I'm using heavy strapping tape or tape with fibers in it to make it stronger) and my other more expensive tape dispenser just gummed it up and wasted the tape. This rolls out easily, with the cutter being adequate for cutting it off. Works perfectly.

I run multiple 2 inch tapes during the day. I needed something simple and not very big. I found these and thought they would be perfect. But they’re horrible .. it’s difficult to feed the tape and keep it fed, you constantly lose the end. The one thing I will say is that when it does cut the tape it’s really nice and low effort, the down side is the tape folds over on itself wasting more tape . I’ll keep these around in low volume situational usage but as a daily dispenser .. these don’t cut it at all.
