The Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, AA Battery Powered, LED Warning Light Indicators, model 900-CUDR, is an alarm combo that detects smoke, fire, & carbon monoxide gas, using a single alarm. Operating on two AA batteries (included) for protection during a power failure, the Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm is equipped with self-testing components that are always checking the unit to ensure the device is operating as expected*. Photoelectric sensing technology that senses visible fire particles (associated with smoldering fires), while an electrochemical sensor detects carbon monoxide. When a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event occurs, the Kidde fire alarm warns with an 85-decibel alarm sound & flashing red LEDs. Three LED warning lights provide status of the alarm: a green status alerts to the alarm operating properly, amber alerts to faulty operation or connection, and red alerts to smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide. When the smoke alarm is at the end of its life span, the detector will announce, "Replace Alarm!". I bought this CO and smoke dual sensitivity alarm due to its UL certification, as opposed to only testing, relative affordability, and recommendation from Consumer Reports. It was easy to install, came with batteries, and the test was loud and easy to silence

Was able to use the wall plate from the detector that aged out. There is a small piece that will be depressed as you turn the detector to lock into the plate. You may have to use a bit of force.

Easy to install, chirped when installed batteries for a couple of minutes freaked my dogs out, and than the led was always on that too freak my dogs out constantly staring at it, had to cover the light with a small piece of duct tape, Funny stuff

Two of my five not-yet-10-year-old Kidde combo CO and smoke detectors went bad. As replacements, I ordered these new ones (which had different model numbers) from Bolo and was relieved that I could snap the new ones into the existing mounting brackets that remained screwed into my ceiling.Check back with me in 10 years to see if they actually last 10 years, as the warranty claims. 40% of the previous models did not . . .

This was the second Kidde smoke detector I have purchased, and now I'm completely sure that this brand is garbage! The first one was one of the "battery lasts for 10 years kind", well, at least that one lasted for 5 years, but not the 10 I was promised. And since you can't change the battery, they become trash once they fail. So, I thought I'd give them once more try, but this time, I got the kind that you can change the battery on. Just under a year later, and this one is failing, too. It goes off when there's no smoke at all. It also does either the "I need a new battery" or "I'm failing" beeps, but only in the middle of the night so I can be fully freaked out and not sleep the rest of the night.So, nighty-night, Kidde. No more of your smoke detectors from you guys!
