I have a Redington rod for many years, but I needed a new one to pursue NC trout. This is the perfect rod for that purpose and a most reasonable price manufactured to exacting standard. You can pay more, but it will not buy better combination.

I’m a newbie fly fisher and I love this rod. I live in Washington so getting something that was made in Washington is even better. That quality to impressive it looks great, feel great and is super durable. I love the case it came with and the rod goes together super quickly. I’ve used it in salt and fresh water and it’s held up perfectly. It’s lightweight and crazy strong. Keep it clean and follow the manufacturer’s care recommendations!

simply put... this is a work horse (compared to my 4wt.) Not real impressed with the fly line! sounds like cable going thru the eyelets... sounds rough... and has coils/memory... Not very supple! going to change that out. rod is stout, reel works great, even after being submerged as I stood waste deep, mid stream, changing my fly!

Likes. It's been 25 years or more since I've picked up a fly rod. Rod was very easy to use and practice getting back into fly fishing. I've caught 25 to 30 large mouth bas and brim since I got my outfit about a week now. Rod performed great. Wish the end of the rod had a lil more meat to it but other than that .very pleased. Great beginners outfit I think.👍 p.s. the shipping time was great got it in like 2days. Thanks Bolo.

Upgraded from the path, but also tested the field kit. This performs just as well as the field kit, the casting is very smooth, flys out of the rod like butter. Honestly it feels exactly like the field kit to me, it's truly fantastic. The line isn't as good and it's a polymer reel instead of aluminum, but the performance and price point are too good to pass up. The drag feels stronger on this compared to the path as well. Quality rod, thank you Redington! Love it. Just wish you could choose your reel color for the kits!!

I purchased the salmon combo. The rod feels decent and of fair quality that's where the good ends. The backer line felt rough and did not slide thru the guides smoothly. The reel. Is the worst of it all. Not a bit of metal in it. Not even the shaft or threads. Very flimsy feeling and not made too last. I bought this at a box store but thought I would give a warning to anyone looking to purchase this combo. I only give it a 2 because the rod felt decent. The rest is returnable at best which is what I will be doing with it.
