I'm really enjoying this kit! This was my first time trying hydroponics (Kratky Method) and this was an economical place to start. Works perfect with empty pill bottles because they fit perfectly! Below are pictures of a Plumeria grown from seed using this system and method.

Was shocked how well this works. We decide to start some of our garden seeds in the Aerogarden this year. THey take some time to sprout, but once they do, they grow like weeds! Make sure you don't start too early, if you put them outside too early or don't harden off gradually the starts will wilt badly and maybe not make it. But if you put outside at the right time and give them several days to acclimate to outdoor sun / wind, they thrive!

Plant inserts for my lighted plant starter. Perfect fit in the starter. Great size to begin plants and move to larger pots as plant grow quickly. Great value for the price. Good quality and easy to use. Shipped quickly.

The sponges seemed to grow green algae. This didn't appear to prevent the seeds from germinating, but I was a little surprised to see so much algae.

I planted about 20 different flowers and herbs 2 weeks ago in my Aerogarden using these “sponges”. Only 3 germinated so far though all should have by now given normal germination times. Even “weeds” like mint and basil have not sprouted at all, though they have never failed before using sponges from other suppliers and the seeds are all fresh. These sponges seem to be very dense, almost rubber like and the holes to add the seeds are rather shallow & wide, which probably isn’t drop & dark enough despite covering them with standard stickers & plastic covers. Seeds just turn mushy & greyish white.Basically a total waste of money - not only for the sponges but also the failed seeds and stickers. :(
