And i needed to fit in my travel clothes but did not need to haul my work and personal laptop.The Matein seemed like it fit the need and all my other backpacks were more business-travel focused with vertical slots for laptop. So this was a refreshing change when i received and really saw that, as I opened it like a carry-on, and unexpanded, had a good amount of room to add basics. I added a pair of Cole Haan oxfords, stuffed the inside with socks and small amenities, and there was still tons of room for clothes. When I expanded it, the Matein suddenly became even more like a soft-side carryon with extra depth. It's one big space for packing instead of 3 slots like regular backpacks.I've used this on 2 domestic roundtrips already (up to 2 nights each) fully stuffed with and it held up well, even fitting under seat on American and Southwest Airlines, when expanded (granted, it can be squeezed to fit, since I only had clothes.Front pockets are large enough for a tablet, though not padded - which is fine since my clothes are padding it. So far I'm happy with it, and will be my main travel backpack for the business conferences in the next few months.I'm watching the quality of this since I have overstuffed it and it did become a bit heavy (15 lbs), holding up well so far- especially for the main carry handle. Time will tell.The other benefit is that I can still use this as a personal item (backpack, unexpanded) and travel with a regular carry-on or rolling backpack carry-on. The combo would allow me to easily carry 5-6 days of clothing.There is no dedicated padded laptop holder for my work laptop - that's not an issue for me as i will add it to my rolling carry-on but it's something to note if you travel regularly for business with laptops.

i studied abroad in 10 countries (semester at sea) and only used this backpack to go in each country. it stayed in perfect condition for the 4 months i was used it. I'm a chronic overpacker and this actually kept up quite well for that. You can use the straps that buckle together to buckle water bottles, external bags, etc. I also love that there is a pocket right where it is flat on your back so i wasnt worried about anyone opening a zipper and stealing my computer. i was honestly scared to buy this cause i dont trust Bolo's quality sorry but im so happy i got this cheaper alternative. if you are stuffing it full like i was it won't fit under an airplane seat, but it fits well in the overhead bins. I genuinely put this backpack through the ringer and it never failed me. I see some comments about zippers and I had no issues.

One of the best purchases I've made. For it's size it easily held 3 days worth of clothes and I'm certain I could've gotten a day or two more in there. I couldn't get my toiletry bag in there but the mesh pocket easily held everything I would've put in it making it unnecessary. The outer pocket held my laptop, it's cord and tablet. It fits carry on guidelines and functions as a backpack to carry through the airport. As there are no rolling wheels you either have use it as a backpack or the handle to carry it like a suitcase, which I guess could be provided as a downside but I knew what I was purchasing so it was fine. All in all a great bag.
