This is more true if you have batteries connected to a MPPT Controller. You're supposed to have the controller already connected to the batteries before connecting/disconnecting solar panels, and a kill switch/breaker like this that's also essentially weatherproof, comes highly recommended. I just place this as close to my solar panels as possible, without it mounted, and plug my MC4 extension into an exterior mounted SAE connector, on my Florida room. The SAE connector cable runs inside to bare wires, clamped into my Victron 100/30 MPPT Controller. An excellent addition so far.

I have two 200w panels on my flat roof that are only connected when necessary so I needed a way to disconnect them when not in use. Reasonable price for the function and safety.

I just needed a simple solar panel disconnect switch for my DIY project. Surprisingly, there're not many options available on Bolo. This 32 A disconnect switch was an overkill for my small project but it presents a convenient plug-and-play solution. Just click in the connectors and you're good to go. Giving it 4 starts only for the size of the thing, it is about a man's palm in size and quite bulky. They could have offered a smaller one with lower amps. I recommend it anyway.

upper right in the photo you can see the disconnect switch. I love it, anytime I need to work on the panels I can cut the power and not worry that I am going to zap my electronics which working on the charge controllers.

I installed this switch as a kill switch to my solar well control box to further regulate the water well. It plugged right up and worked fine from the first. Would buy again.

Bought this in October of 2024. Now that it's rained through the spring, the switch is shorting out. Why is that you may ask? It's filled with water. If you use this switch, make sure it is well under cover. I installed it out by the panels with the intent that if I needed to do maintenance, I could just shut them off right there and not have to go into the basement. Promise on their product page is that if you are disatisfied, they will replace it. Great I thought ... how do I contact them? No way to make contact unless I guess you write a letter to Shenzhen City, China; no email, or phone.

Fehlerhaft und gefährlich
Ich habe 4 davon gekauft ubd mit einem Hoymiles getestet. 2 haben überhaupt nicht funktioniert (fehlende Kontakte), 1 hat auf dem WR einen seltsamen Fehler geworfen. Als sich dann beim Trennen des MC4 der Stecker gelöst hat und die katastrophale Verarbeitung sichtbar wurde, habe ich alle 4 sofort entsorgt. Trennschalter sollten den Schutz erhöhen, aber dieses mangelnde Exemplar macht das Gegenteil und sollte verboten werden.
Perfect way to make life easier
I'm so happy with this unit. No more risky unplugging of the mc4's to work on the battery. Alot of reviews talked about bad wiring and connections but I never had that issue. All connections were perfect and worked flawlessly right away. Super happy and highly recommend! Very easy to install.
