5.0 out of 5 stars A good deal, but note easy modification hints

The screw threads are clean and the operation is smooth. All four of the "bench dogs" are 0.7450 inches in diameter, but one of the clamp dogs is 0.747 and the other is 0.749. I don't know why all six weren't machined exactly the same. I think they will work OK - I still need to drill my dog holes, as I was waiting to see what diameter variations these items had. Note that 19mm is 0.748 inches. However, as other reviewers have noted (on other "versions" of this product - they are all the same, just different sellers) the clamps have a tendency to "rise up" along with your wood piece as they are tightened. This is with perfectly plumb dog holes, done on a drill press, on my test piece. Note that the brass rectangle which clamps the wood is not centered on the screw on purpose. If you orient the larger side down, the skew is less, but still there. SOLUTION: Drill the bench dog holes tilted at 2 degrees, so the brass clamp end is slightly lower than the screw end.The second problem is that the clamp dogs are undersized (less that 3/4") and therefore are too loose in the hole, which allows the brass end to tilt. This can easily be fixed by applying a layer of thin tape around the cylinder. See the attached photo. I used 3M thin white filament tape (not the thicker stuff you usually see). It is slippery enough to allow the dog to be installed and removed from the hole, but once installed, the clamp dog is really tight and doesn't move.Note that the plain dogs do not need any tape - it's OK for them to be loose.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal!
These are surprisingly excellent little clamps. I bought them mostly because the vise on the little Sjobergs workstation I use for small box projects has a tendency to rack when a workpiece is held in one side of the vise. I wanted these to create an adjustable block on the opposite side to prevent racking. I didn't really expect them to be of high enough quality to use for much else.I was wrong. These are high-quality products of good stainless steel and brass. The machining is precise, the screw mechanism works smoothly and accurately, and the little ratchet wrenches are well-made and easy to use. The clamps are going to get a lot of use on the small bench.Highly recommended.
4.0 out of 5 stars Quality stuff. Well made.
The screw part could be a bit higher. When on a flat surface the screw part to tighten is so close to the bench or table top you cannot get the box end of wrench on it. Once on you can’t get it off!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product.
Very well made and the best part is, it’s two complete sets. So, if you ever have to clamp the end and the side of a board, it’s easily done. A great little vise if, like me, you don’t have an end vise in your bench.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bench dogs were great
The product was great, I just ordered the wrong size.
5.0 out of 5 stars Work well for anything over 3/4"
These things are great and hold fast. I primarily use them for sanding... anything over 3/4" in width. Well-made and solid.Only drawback: They're made in China, so they're metric... which means they're not truly 3/4" and slightly looser in the dog holes. So, when they're tightened, the threaded heads sit pretty close to the surface of the workbench. This makes it a bit difficult to switch out the ratcheting wrench to loosen them.Bottom-line: I really like them and use them a lot.
5.0 out of 5 stars Value
Product was great
2.0 out of 5 stars Meh
Dogs wants to lift up out of their holes, I feel as if the sizing is off by some degree. Also the heads should've been thinner with and undercut for better holding
great product
