Review:
5.0 out of 5 stars Breville Puck Sucker.....quiet, clean, easy, works pretty well.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Ok...I don't write reviews very often...but I could not find anything that addressed my specific issue so here goes.I like my knock box...it just adds to the experience for me. I have a Breville Oracle with 58mm portafilter...and it makes between 1-5 drinks daily. Most are double shot drinks so we use the 2 shot filter most of the time. This is easy...3 bangs on the knock box and the puck falls right out. Even if allowed to harden...the puck comes out relatively easy. The single shot filter is the issue...pucks come out of it very hard. I'm 6'2" & a big guy...I can bash the knock box pretty hard...the pucks are crazy hard to get out. I loathe using the single shot filter. My wife uses white coffee to pull her shots...getting white coffee out is impossible. Have to use a knife to kind of chip the puck out...I hate the single shot filter...and hate is not a strong enough word. So, we bought the Puck Sucker...I'm writing this review in mid-June 2025...we have been using the puck sucker for 2 months since mid-April. Here is our experience. It is Very easy to use. It is very quiet, easy to clean, and aesthetically not terrible. Did I mention that it's pretty quiet. No more waking family up at 5am to bash out a puck using a knock box.On the 2 shot filter...works nearly 100% of the time. Even if allowed to harden...the puck gets sucked out pretty easily. In two months...it has only not worked (1) time...puck was stuck pretty good. That is not bad at all in my book.On the 1 shot filter..it works "ok". It usually doesn't remove the entire puck...it pulls the center of the puck out and leaves a ring of grounds around the outside edge of the filter. This is not a complaint...it is 1000 times better than chipping the puck out with a knife. Run the filter under the water tap in the sink and it washes the remaining grounds out. Not kidding...this is such a better solution than chipping the puck out.So, for me...this puck sucker is worth every penny. I would recommend it to everyone...it has replaced our knock box. Something to keep in mind...I would guess it has pulled 200 pucks in (2) months...and I haven't replaced the batteries yet. So battery life seems pretty satisfactory to me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny all around a winner. Just do it!
Worth it totally. Just do it. This was intended for the 58mm Breville portafilter. However it works beautifully for the 54. Works 9 times out of 10 with out any fussing with it. Occasionally it needs just a micro movement here or there but once you get the feel for it will work so good. I hated banging and banging to free pucks..esp since I like multiple shots in my am coffee. Worth every penny. My daughter took a few min but hand the hang of it as well and she agrees taking a min to get used to it is well worth it. I love taking the pucks out to my garden and chucking them around with out leaving my porch so whole pucks are extra appreciated around here..lol Build and material quality is very good and the foot print is on the small side so perfect for my small kitchen. Very simple clean up-pop the top and rinse the container and the top is easily wiped with a damp cloth etc. does fine with hot off the presses pucks. Very light weight. I love this unit. The only thing I can see improvement on is making it rechargeable instead of 9v batteries..I suspect since the unit is very efficient that a 9v will last quite a while tho.
5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome upgrade for your espresso routine!
Being a gadget person, I appreciated the idea behind the Puck Sucker but some of the reviews made me hesitant. Well, needing to bump up my order for an overnight delivery and having enough Bolo points, I bit.We have a Breville Oracle touch with a 58mm portafilter that makes 2 espresso drinks every day for the last 6+ years. The morning thump-thump of the knock box was a regular feature of our morning routine. No Longer. The last week has very quiet and the knock box has been relegated to storage. We have had zero failures, 10-15 seconds on the Pucker Sucker, a barely perceptible “thunk” as it drops and, done.Today is my regular clean the coffee space, the perk I hadn’t seen coming? Noticeably cleaner, no splatter anywhere.
1.0 out of 5 stars Did not work
I was so excited to buy this but unfortunately it did not work for me I had to return it. it did not suck out the coffee very disappointed
4.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, super quiet puck sucker.
For convenience sake this thing is awesome! For instance needing a quieter coffee brewing routine for breville barista machines or similar. Although I am constantly using freshly toasted beans, it seems the puck sucker can’t vacuum the pucks from dual wall filters. Rather it seems to suck the filter out of the portofilter holder. But I love that it’s super quiet. Works on the 58 mm puck. Also it’s about the size, if not smaller than the original square knock box from breville. Very lightweight.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works just great with my 54mm Breville Touch Impress.
After getting the Breville Knock Box and absolutely hating it (so noisy, splats everywhere), - this came into view, and there were some concerns that my 54mm portafilter would not work with this, designed-for-58mm, device.I needn't have worried. This works just great. Just center the portafilter over the opening and press down. The vacuum does the rest. Superbly, it will pull the coffee puck out, and if you hold it there a bit longer, will pull the filter out, too, for much easier cleaning than trying to pry that thing out with some tool.Anyway, I love this thing. Quiet, speedy, painless coffee puck removal, and it works just great with my 54mm portafilter.5 out of 5. Excellent.
Quiet
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I really like this "knock box". Very quiet, no more banging.
Breville Puck Sucker PERFECT only for 58 mm portafilters
The Puck Sucker did a fantastic job of gently and quickly removing a 1-day old stuck-in espresso puck without us having to exert any physical energy. The portafilter fits neatly in the cradle and the pump automatically kicks on. IMPORTANT NOTE: the Puck Sucker is designed to function with 58-millimeter Breville portafilters, e.g. the Breville Dual Boiler, Breville Oracle, or Breville Oracle Touch. Most Breville espresso machines have a 54-millimeter basket, which means they're not compatible with the Puck Sucker.
Design issues- NOT working half of the time - EXPENSIVE
Poorly designed. At least half of the time, it does NOT work.
Excellent
Works exactly as described and is much tidier than a knock box. If your grind/extraction is incorrect it might not work for you.
Works sometimes
I was excited for this product but it is very inconsistent. In theory it would be amazing, but it doesn’t always work. I have tried it several ways, I.e. use it right away, let it drip, let it dry and it continues to be inconsistent.
