Anatomically correct. Comes with a laminated card that has a key to the labels on the model. Some of the labels are hard to read/hard to tell what they’re referring to. (Eg 1 is the stratum basale, but it’s a bit confusing on the model admittedly). Used this for teaching my students, and it went well. Great for learning & teaching.

This is a marvelously accurate display of the skin. I appreciate its size and sturdiness. Great for anyone in healthcare to have a better understanding of what is “beneath the surface.” I purchased this for the new nurses that I work with to have a kinesthetic experience. It’s been well received. Highly recommended.

I really like this model of the skin -- I chose the 50X version and it is compact in size but still manages to show a considerable amount of detail. The features are crisply rendered and the colors make it easy to distinguish them. It isn't that easy to see in the pictures, but the right side of the model shows the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin as well as the sub-cutaneous layer underlying the skin. The papillary layer of the dermis is not particularly well represented or labeled, but the reticular layer is. The top of the model indicates the layers of the epidermis as present in thin skin and several shafts of hair. The front shows an intact hair follicle and an associated muscle and sebaceous gland as well as a cut-away view showing the internal features. It is possible to trace the growth of a hair from the base of the follicle to the surface. A sweat gland and duct are shown as well as the pore for the product to exit the skin surface (the pore is hard to distinguish but is labeled with a number). Several receptors and nerve endings for sensation are also shown, including one (Pacinian) in an intact view on the front and another in a cut-away view on the left side. The nerves and blood vessels and their plexes are also represented as well. Many of the features are labeled with a number (some are a bit difficult to make out) that corresponds to a key naming them. It is very small, about the size of a large index card but it is laminated, which is nice. So many models just come with a key printed on flimsy paper (or don't even include one). This would be great for A&P students as well as those destined for health-related professions. It would be suitable in a lab designed for beginning to intermediate level students. The current price of $39.99 seems very reasonable for this sturdy, easy to use model.
