Review

"This heartfelt celebration of disability is a much-needed reminder for kids and adults alike that disability isn't something to be ashamed of but rather a natural part of our life experiences."

The story beautifully captures Rose's innocence and vulnerability as she expresses her anxiety about being different. With her mother's gentle guidance, Rose realizes everyone has their differences, visible and invisible. The story highlights the importance of understanding and kindness as Rose's friends embrace and celebrate themselves.

Why Me, Mama? promotes acceptance and emphasizes the importance of creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and inclusive. This is a fun children's book and an essential tool for teaching understanding and encouraging discussion about diversity, acceptance, and friendship.

I felt a piece of my inner child being healed by seeing representation of my syndrome in the book. It's important for children to learn as early as possible that they exist in a world FULL of people with differences, disabilities, and syndromes; sometimes you can see them, and sometimes you can't.

Amanda Dodge, Adult with Duane Syndrome

Fun, informative, and thoroughly 'kid friendly' in presentation, "Why Me Mama?" is a welcome and unreservedly recommended addition to family, elementary school, and community library picture book collections for children ages 6-10.
