I can agree with everyone else, I'm not sure what the "Improved Bolt" means, it appears to be the exact same hardware that came with the lock. It's unfortunate that the original failed so soon. I purchased two units back in January of 2022 and this unit sat in the box for about 6 months before it was installed. Then, one day, the door wouldn't open from the inside or the outside. The electronics appeared to be working fine, but the door wouldn't open. After taking it apart from the inside and having to destroy the old mechanism, I'm still not sure what exactly failed as the process to get the door open was very destructive to the old mechanism.Anyway, because of their proprietary size, you have to purchase this if you want to continue to use the lock as other brand parts didn't fit the square shaft. If this part only lasts 2 years, I'll be replacing the entire unit.
