5.0 out of 5 stars SD02 works great with Type B / MHDA thumbsticks
This is a review for the type B compatible SD02 version of the thumbsticks. In short, they worked great for me. The install and calibration can be done in less than 10 minutes. You'll probably have to calibrate them with the button on the back of each joystick before putting the cover back on, but it's not a huge issue. The container they shipped in also works well to store the original thumbsticks. I wouldn't have minded if you had to solder the caps on, but it does save you a couple of minutes if you ever have to swap back in your old sticks for whatever reason, plus you get a spare set of caps.My left stick's calibration was perfect from the box, but my right one was off a little bit. I had no weird issues with deadzones after calibrating, or with other issues people had with the previous version such as the sticks grinding / scratching / sticking, or the motion not being smooth.If I had to pick a "negative" it would be that one stick is was switched to A and one stick was switched to B from the factory. You should be inspecting this anyway before installing, but I'm sure someone will leave a one star review eventually mentioning the gyro not working correctly.Assuming they hold up over time these are a great replacement for the stock thumbsticks. Just don't expect them to make you a better gamer.

Super easy to install, didn't even have to calibrate after install. They were pretty well calibrated, no drifting, no issues. Perfect direct replacement. Just have to install them into the correct position (Left and right stick position). I personally, feel they are an upgrade from the OEM sticks (OEM potentiometers) to installed (electromagnetic). I feel they have a better response time, of course calibrate after install, but I feel they also move smoother.

Fantastic replacement for the stock joysticks! Absolutely zero stick drift after calibration, and a very quick install, having installed new hard drives several times in the past. The biggest worry I had was remembering the correct type for my Steam Deck, and that would have been an easy fix regardless. Most definitely recommend for anyone who worries about stick drift or just wants a smooth gaming experience in general.

The set I received works, that said; the left stick has an issue with the it's deadzone that I can't remedy with their calibration button. When moving the stick a small amount in any direction and letting it return to zero, the stick reports being pushed slightly to the top right and bounces around in that area without actually returning to zero. I spent an hour trying to zero it, and while I was able reduce how bad it was; I wasn't able to remove it entirely. I was still able to reduce the deadzone size in steam deck calibration, even with this issue; and it causes no issues, but I was hoping to reduce it more especially considering there were zero issues with the right stick and how incredibly accurate and responsive it was. Overall, I'm still happy with the joysticks, they were easy to install and I won't have to worry about stick drift and was able to reduce the deadzones a fair amount.Edit: the manufacturer reached out to me and offered a partial refund for the product if I wanted to keep them. I had already soldered the wires on and was happy enough with the joysticks so I opted to keep them. The issue is still present but doesn’t cause any issues.

These were incredibly easy to install and calibrate! I wouldn't bother trying to use the tiny buttons to calibrate these. Instead enter desktop mode, open the konsole and enter thumbstick_cal. It'll have you do a couple of things that take about a minute and then you're done!! I highly recommend buying these so you don't have to worry about stick drift on your steam deck!

Bought this kit as soon as I saw it available for the Type B (MHDA) joysticks. I had already upgraded the NVMe drive of my Steam Deck, so opening it back up was simple as before. Just go slow and be careful not to strip any of the screws, and make sure you remove your microSD card if you have one. From beginning to end, it probably only took about 15 minutes including calibration to install these new joysticks. Mine were slightly low of center even after multiple attempts using the button on the back, but running thumbstick_cal in desktop mode fixed it so now it's perfectly calibrated at 0,0. As others have said, this new revision still has the downsides of a square outer deadzone and that the joysticks max out at about 80% throw (e.g., if you press forward on the joystick 80% to max, it will always register 100%). I feel like most people won't notice the difference or can adapt to it, but nonetheless it would be nice if they fixed this for any future revisions. However, I would not recommend using these to control an underwater submersible due to this small inaccuracy.

Installed quite easily, and I was lucky enough to have the sticks show up already on the proper setting (there is a switch you need to adjust depending on the original stick type). Performance is good and they look like original. I would recommend for an inexpensive easy fix for stick drift issues.
Looks and feels kind of cheap
Right stick arrived with a defect and looks like really cheap plastic.Edit: Got a refund for the right stick. After almost 2 months of use, they are still precise, but the feel the touch sensor is really not great. If you only care about the precision and reliability of the hall effect, go for it, but expect lower feel and look compared to valve's.

Easy to install, work without issues
Easy to install and they work great. I am very happy with the purchase, and will keep buying from these guys for all of my other consoles. Hall effect is the way to go.
Cable that connects joystick to board is too short for the right side
The red cable that connects the joystick to the board is too short. It gets stuck when rotating the joystick and it gives a very unpleasant feeling.
Quality plug and play Steamdeck OLED analog sticks!
The media could not be loaded. My situation: I dropped my Steamdeck and an analog stick broke.I was distraught. OEM sticks were out of stock from iFixit, and I personally loved the feel of the OEM sticks.Reddit recommended I buy these replacements. Saying they were superior because of hall-effect and all that.Actual review of product:These sticks feel just as quality as the OEM sticks to me. These are a cost effective AND quality replacement sticks. It was completely plug and play. Probably 15 minutes total for me to replace. Plus now I reap the longevity benefits of having hall effect sticks.You will need a T6 torx bit to remove the back of your Steam Deck OLED and all associated screws inside the device. I personally have an LTT precision screwdriver set that has the necessary bits.Edit: Just an update. I noticed the accuracy of my sticks was a little out. I calibrated the thumbsticks and now they are actually very accurate now. ifixit has a guide on how to do it. It takes less than 5 minutes to do. Promise. Do not consider it a hurdle to stop you from buying these. Find another reason.
