(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I'm a Heavy Metal / Hardcore kind of guy. My Favorite bands consist of Korn, Gift Giver, Cane Hill, King 810, Emmure, Etc Etc. From Nü-Metal bands like Korn, System & Limp, to Hardcore groups like Backtrack, Knocked Loose, & Rotting Out to Deathcore bands like Chelsea Grin, Lorna Shore, & Oceano.I just love heavy underground music. So normally this style of music wouldn't even catch my attention. But for some reason I heard the track "Tear in my Heart" which is on this record, on the radio at work one day and I caught myself really digging it! Didn't go any further though, just sang alone when I heard it on the radio at work every once in awhile. "I'm driving here I sit cursing my government for not using my taxes to fill holes with more cement" Then a few months later I heard another track off the record called "Stressed Out". Once again I caught myself loving the song and eventually singing along. "My names Blurryface and I care what you think" So after hearing that song a few more times and hearing the man on the radio say the name of the group I then decided to open the Bolo app on my phone, search for Twenty One Pilots, and place an order for a physical copy of the album "Blurryface" by Twenty One Pilots. It arrived the next day and now a year later I still throw in the disk every couple days in my car going to or coming home from work. Every song is catchy, with interesting lyrics, and unique beats. Every song differs a great amount from the next which I respect a lot and it holds your interest. Great record, great band, great purchase.Even though a lot of my friends in the Metal and Hardcore communities give me tons of crap for loving this band I still jam to them with pride and even have a TOP T-shirt now. HahahaMy favorite track off the album is definitely "Fairly Local".I can't wait for their next release.🤘🏻🤘🏻

5.0 out of 5 stars Album wraps with **Goner** - perfect plea for someone's help (partner

M.a.T.H. · December 5, 2016

Genre- defying (articulate hip hop, pop, EDM, reggae - ?). These guys have been around. But with the release of "Heathens" from the Suicide Squad soundtrack (along with a tremendous SNL performance), these guys are on the pop map. Lyrics go deeper. The album *Blurryface* evolves into a collective whole... and a genre bend at that. The guys feature lyrics about this character "blurryface" woven throughout the tracks (even though no song bears that title). Though i haven't taken time to dig deep into research, there's a certain contemplation behind the songs. For examples, heck out the writer's confessions--1. Of insecurity in **Stressed out** [Name's blurryface and i care what you think"; "used to play pretend" . . . but "wake up, you need the money";2. "Thinking about the end way too much" in **Ride**;3. "Not caring what's on your hair ['just wanting to know what's on your mind.'] in **We Don't Believe What's on TV**;4. Album wraps with **Goner** - perfect plea for someone's help (partner? God ?) to help him "be known by you."It's a mysterious and marvelous album. I suspect it has got love/ hate written all over the critics' pages. But I dig this. It feels like a far more melodic and grown- up Linkin Park. A little bit of screaming; little bit of heavy drum-bass; little bit of genre bend. Though ironically i hate the opening track... rest of album has been getting a ton of playtime. I'm a fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable and So Worth It

K.B. · April 22, 2016

There is nothing I don't like about every single song. Insightful, intelligent, poignant, neurotic lyrics. A veritable free for all of genres - creative, clever, emotional, authentic, danceable, shoutable. I had heard several of their songs on the radio and enjoyed each of them for different reasons without knowing they were all the same band. I am well into middle age but never give up on finding my next new favorite band even though I find them less frequently than I used to. Twenty One Pilots is my favorite in the recent crop of quite good Alternative and Indie music. These guys are brilliant and genuine (and hilarious behind the scenes). Looking forward to becoming acquainted with their previous records. And to seeing them live. Somewhere! Where have I even been that I didn't know about them sooner?! Old, complacent and jaded no more It is so exciting to be excited about something new and a relief to know the fangirl within me was sleeping and not dead.EDIT: Here it is more than a year later. I did see them live, it was stunning. I'm still absorbing their earlier stuff which just adds to my obsession. Anticipating what comes next. I'm kind of in awe.

So.
