5.0 out of 5 stars Best receiver I have owned
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I had been eyeing this receiver for months before finally deciding to pull the trigger when it was offered at half the original price. I previously had an Onkyo TX-NR 809 which died and was replaced with a Denon AVR. This receiver blew both AVRs out of the water.Initial setup was very easy. HDMI inputs:• PS5• PS4• PS3• 15 foot HDMI cable for laptop• eARC output to 65" TCL TV's eARC inputEverything worked once I switched on the TV, powering on the AVR in the process. I have a 7.1 Infinity system with a Klipsch reference subwoofer and listening to the receiver drive these speakers was a joy to behold. The one issue I ran into was the Dirac Live configuration which kept failing, no matter how many times I tried or adjusted the sound levels. I have been at it for two days now and nothing I have tried has worked. It's a pity because I had heard so many good things about it. I will have to go the old-school route and use a sound level meter to adjust the individual speaker levels. I already adjusted the speaker distances so the level calibration should optimize the audio which already sounds fantastic and much closer to a home theater experience than I have ever had.Another issue that bedeviled me and which I had seen mentioned in other reviews was the dreaded "Initial Setup - See TV" message. Once the AVR turns on, the message appears on the AVR's display panel with no video output to the TV. Pressing back prompts you to set up Alexa and pressing back again restores video output and input selection. Not a deal breaker but having to press the back button twice whenever I turned on the system was a bit annoying.Unplugging the receiver from the power supply did not work.Installing a firmware update did not work either.Eventually, I reset the AVR from the onscreen menu: Settings > Miscellaneous > Reset. The reset process is very quick and you have to press the AVR's power button to restart it. Once done, I went through the initial setup steps without interrupting it and finally got to a screen thanking me for completing the initial setup and reminding me that I could do it again in the future. After that, the 'Initial Setup - See TV" no longer appeared. For all its power, the AVR was surprisingly light out of the box, compared to my previous TX-NR809 AVR but it makes sense though since that was a much older model. The remote is very light and easy to use but a major gripe was the placement of the mute button. It is placed directly under the arrow down button which has led to accidentally muting the receiver a few times. I was beginning to wonder if the AVR was broken when the speaker level calibration function was grayed out, before realizing that I had accidentally pressed mute as I was moving down to access the feature. Another minor annoyance is the placement of the input buttons with Cbl/Sat, Game and BD/DVD the first three followed by STRMBOX below. During the initial setup, I had used the first 3 HDMI inputs from the left for the consoles. When I turned on the PS3, I couldn't find the input and eventually found it when I pressed STRMBOX . Now I will have to examine the inputs more closely to determine their labels. They can always be renamed on the AVR but not the remote. I am quite sure I used the GAME input for the PS5 but I will have to make sure. This is my 5th AVR and by far the best. I am really excited to experience what it has to offer and am now thinking of getting height speakers to get the full Atmos experience. If you have a 5.1, 7.1 or more speaker system and are thinking about upgrading your receiver, look no further than this beast.
5.0 out of 5 stars 9.2 powerhouse
I was so happy with the 7100 I had in my living room that this is the second one I have purchased, this time to replace the Onkyo 797 in my bedroom system. While I considered the new RZ30, I didn't see the need for the extras it offers from a price perspective, and with the 7100 going out of production, this seemed to be the best time to make the upgrade. While I used a manual setup due to the unique speaker placement that would give Dirac problems, I have used Dirac in the 7100 for installs for other people and had great results, although using the PC based version with a proper calibrated mic is preferred.Power is ample for a small to medium size room, and in stereo mode the soundstage is both wide with plenty of depth. In comparison to the Denon 3800, the Denon has a much smaller soundstage in stereo but offers more flexibility if you are using multiple subwoofers - surround experience is very comparable. There's been some noise about the 7100 struggling with speakers that have an impedance lower than 8ohms, and while the bedroom system is all 8ohm, the living room system has 6ohm speakers on the 3 main channels and 4ohm speakers on the surrounds and I have never had a problem, even when pushing the system to higher than theater level sound levels - all while having the 7100 in "6+ ohm mode".I'm extremely satisfied with this receiver. Unless you need preamp outs for future expansion, the 7100 checks all the right boxes for a 9.2 AV receiver. The fact that it's insanely inexpensive now is icing on the cake.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds great.
The media could not be loaded. Just received my Onkyo TX-NR 7100, watched a few YouTube videos before it arrived, so set up was easy. Ran accuEQ, I am getting new front speakers so I’ll wait to run Dirac. After accuEQ, I still had to make a few adjustments, to the speaker levels and especially the sub. It set my subwoofer way too low. As of right now having no problems with Bluetooth. I’ve only listened to music so far, can’t wait to watch a movie. For now I have a 5.1.2. System, getting new fronts, the Klipsch r51-m’s will go to the rear surround and Klipsch r41-m’s will be my height speakers in a 5.1.4 system. So far loving this avr.Update 2: Just calibrated with Dirac for the 6th time. They tell you if you sit in a recliner, reclined measure with it reclined. Well I measured with the chair in its upright position. It makes a huge difference I hear the surrounds much better. Btw I listen to all channel stereo, I know audiophiles say it sucks, however I listened to 2 channel stereo for 20 years, when there was nothing else. I didn’t buy a 9 channel avr to listen to 2 channel stereo. Like Randy the cheap audio man says “ audiophiles aren’t always right. If it sounds good to you, that’s all that matters.” So try calibrating in the upright position, or if you sit on a stationary chair or couch, try positioning the mic slightly forward of your listening position. It makes a huge difference. Hope this helps, enjoy.Update:Ok bought Klipsch rp-600m speakers for the front with 52c center. 51m surrounds, 41m rear heights. Polk owm3 front heights. Why Polk? Lighter easy to hang and as height speakers they are only there for atmos. Ran Dirac live, the application does what it would take several hours to make it sound like it does, if I even could get it to sound so good. Apple TV 4K with my Hisense U8K. The google tv interface is ok, but Apple TV is faster and easier. The Onkyo 7100 is a gem, runs pretty warm but I have it out in the open. If you are going to put in a cabinet I suggest a fan. Very happy with the whole system.

This receiver has been available for over 18 months in the states and Canada and when correspondence amerged it will be available in Europe (240 voltage option) in Autum I kept checking various selling platforms. So checked on the UK Bolo site it was being sold I ordered 1, not very happy when it finally arrived and it was the 120 voltage version. I have sent it back (got a full refund), there is options to buy various electrical add ons so the 120 option is OK to use here in this country but didn't want anymore bulky electrical boxes on show.
Onkyo 7100 is the best value
This my second Onkyo after purchasing a TX-NR797, 5 years ago. This 7100 receiver was relatively easy to set-up. The internet installed fast. The connections are plenty, however I wasn’t sure whether I wanted my Samsung 85 to be the brains or Onkyo 7100 receiver. I went with my Samsung for now. So now the EARC is running from television to receiver. Cogeco cable box and Sony 4K player are hooked up via Samsung. One big selling feature was Dirac Live. I waited until it was very quiet. I downloaded the IOS version on phone first but I couldn’t get the App to work properly. I troubleshot online and downloaded the Windows version. That did the trick. The audio sounds brilliant now. I have a 7.1.2 configuration. Klipsch fronts, centre and sub, Definitive Technology bi-polars mid-surrounds, Sony atmos ceiling speakers and Energy back surrounds. We watched the 4K Elvis movie. The sound was 100% legit, it is Man Cave approved. The Onkyo answered the bell with immersive sound. I have only begun to maximize the 7100’s capabilities, but to me this receiver is phenomenal value and comes highly recommended by me.

Ótimo receiver estou muito satisfeito
SKADI ELECTRONICS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY! Having managed several audio stereo stores years ago I've never had an issue buying preowned electronics. If you're going to have a problem, it'll occur right off the bat or the first week. My budget was around $1000 for an A V receiver but I wanted to get one with DIRAC LIVE capabilities. Onkyo has one but it was priced around $1600 but Skadi Electronics had a used one for around $1100 so I placed my order. Steven at Skadi Electronics discovered there was an issue with the only one they had left and offered me an upgrade to a top of line Pioneer at no extra charge! This model retails for $2000! Skadi has proven that they stand by a policy of wanting to keep their customers satisfied.
