5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Crime
I am curious. What is wrong with Australian television? (I won't say 'what is wrong with Australian tv fans', because apparently this series was a big hit). This review covers both seasons 1 & 2 of MS FISHER'S MODERN MURDER MYSTERIES.From the first episode, the entire series was extremely well-done, with stories that routinely hit the B+, A-, A range, excellent acting and identifiable characters. The settings were stylish, colorful and absorbing. The series is set in 'swinging '60s Melbourne', and shows an intriguing mix of the traditional and the modern with lots of room for continuing development.By the end of season 1, fans (including myself) could not wait to see what new adventures were in store for Peregrine, Birdie, Detective Steed (love the name), Toby and Violetta. Also, the anticipation of Chief Inspector Sparrow eventually getting what's coming to him.In Season 2, both Peregine and Steed and Toby and Violetta faced rollercoaster romances, filled with major and minor difficulties. We learned more about Birdie's espionage-ridden past, but just enough to make us antsy about what more we would learn in Season 3.Just as everything was set and we were comfortable, ready to hit the on switch, cuddle up with a tub of popcorn and ready to watch what happened to these beloved characters.....the plug was pulled. No Season 3.No nothing.Twelve fantastic episodes and then a void. What is wrong with Australian television? This series should have lasted a minimum of 5 seasons, 35 or 36 episodes, with a build up and fitting conclusion.....perhaps as the 1960's ended. Instead, all of the 'brains' running Australian programming thought 'screw the fans.....who cares if they love the show? We'll give them circus clowns with oversized shoes and bad breath instead.....they'll never know the difference'.Sad.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Love, Love Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries!
I loved Phryne Fisher (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) but I love Peregrine Fisher (Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries) even more! The stars are great and really click with one another. Geraldine Hakewell and Joel Jackson are the perfect pair! The stories are quite clever too. I have watched both Seasons 1 and 2 over and over again and never get tired of watching the episodes.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Sixties Vibe with an Aussie Accent!
I had decided not to buy any more TV series, simply because I would eventually grow tired of many of them and let them go at a loss. However, this series is an exception. I was hooked from the first episode I saw on PBS, and I had to own both seasons. The series is fun and different, with an engaging cast and an appealing mix of humor, relationships, and crime-solving. And Geraldine Hakewill is a stunner! This one is a keeper! The only negative is that it's way up in the air whether there will be a third season. Let's have one!
5.0 out of 5 stars Buy and enjoy.
Really a great series-wish there could have been more seasons. After watching all the episodes for a second and third time you will appreciate the exceptional talent of the main characters and the stunning color.
4.0 out of 5 stars Cute but mystery solving speed not believable.
Prodyct good quality, shipping good. Swiftness in finding clues and solving murders not believable
5.0 out of 5 stars This is a fun series.
It's a 60's based series. The characters in this comedic crime are great and the lead is as fun as she can be. Where the hell is series 3?
5.0 out of 5 stars Well done
This is the second set of these that's surfaced. You really need to see the first set to get the back story. Short synopsis, Miss Fisher has disappeared, presumed dead, and her previously unknown niece inherits and picks up detecting. This is a pretty well done set of mysteries, set in the '60s in Australia. Sets, costuming and music match the era well. If you are not familiar with the Miss Fisher books/videos, this may not be for you. For those who are and want more, this may satisfy.
5.0 out of 5 stars 5 ⭐️ does not include episode 1
Series 2 episode 2 through eight was excellent. Episode 1 was very disappointing. The actors they brought in and the plot and whatever they were trying to do just did not jell. it was really bad. I almost threw the disc in the trash but decided to give it a chance and view another episode or two. I’m glad I did, 2 through 8 were very good and enjoyable to watch.
What is the right Blu Ray reader for those disks?
I did not succeed in reading the disks (nor with a 2 region reader nor with a region multiplayer) but I saw the episodes on tv and I liked a lot.
Great entertainment
Yes. It’s a very enjoyable show. Love this DVD and the delivery is good too. Thank you.
Excellent series
Very watchable, very entertaining, excellent actors and team
Five Star
Brilliant thank you
Good show crap box so thin and cheapo
This is a good follow on series and great production, pity the case it comes in is so cheap and nasty. Big prices then penny pinching not good.
