I mean who doesn't? And with this kit anyone can easily make a pot. With or without meat. One important detail to remember though. If you plan to prepare this for a crock pot meal, first cook in a pot and then transfer to your crock pot. Why? Well crock pots don't get up to the necessary heat level to properly reconstitute the freeze dried beans, rice etc. that is in the mix.I believe you add 7 cups of water and a small can of tomato paste. (8oz) to a large pot. Heat, mix and wallah. Step one is complete. Then if your gonna add meat, nows the time. Transfer the chilli mix over to the crock pot and then put in the meat. One great trick if using hamburger or my favorite, carne asada steak, is to put it right in the pot you cooked the chilli in. Don't rinse it out. The left over bit in the pot with season the meat for ya without having to add any additional salt or Seasons that might over season the chilli.Another great meat choice is beef jerky. Not some cheap dollar store brand but some good quality jerky. Bridgeford makes a half decent jerky that's also reasonably priced. For that just take the jerky out of the pouch,(carefully removing the stay fresh pack) and put in the pot. Add a out one cup of beef stock and simmer covered on low for twenty to thirty minutes. Which ever flavor you use will bleed into the stock and make a rich salty brine. You then strain out the meat and drop into the chilli. Keep the brine, cause you can make some yummy beef soup out of it for a later meal. Transfer the brine to a container with a lid and refrigerate. It will last in the fridge for up to ten days. And if you wanna take your chilli to the next level, add a can or two of Goya seasoned black beans. If you don't want to add additional liquids, just strain the can before adding the beans. But you'll lose a lot of flavor so keep that in mind. This mix is easy to make for a quick meal or a slow cooker mega meal. It'll warm you up, fill your belly and won't hurt your wallet.Well that's it folks. Till next review...Be good to one another. Always keep your sticks on the ice. And always put the seat down after you flush. Mehr.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best chili I've tasted so far (I added meat)

    L.C. · June 24, 2025

This chili tasted much better to me than my home-made chili or any popular canned chili that I have tried. The beans are smaller and tastier than the canned beans that I use for chili. It also has rice in it and tiny bits of bell pepper and onion that are not overwhelming (my husband hates onions but didn't notice them in it). It is not too hot or spicy (I added a little Pace picante sauce). You will need a small can of tomato paste. It doesn't have meat. I used cooked, crumbled, drained ground beef that I added during the last ten minutes. In addition, I cooked the recipe 20 minutes longer than the recipe instructions, per advice from other reviewers. I will continue to buy this in place of my own chili. It is slightly more liquid than standard chili, more like thick soup. It seemed to get thicker by the second day and tasted slightly better. It makes more than four servings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast easy delicious Hardy it really can be a one-pot meal

    F.H. · March 7, 2025

I absolutely love Bear Creek soups you can do so many things with him besides soup the flavors are absolutely delicious you can take one package and expand it four to five times and just bolster it with vegetables and more meat and some additional tortilla chips or you can put some pasta noodles into it another thing I like to do is I like to boil it up with the recommended amount of water and then I simmer it down and then I shred four whole chickens into it and then I add some corn tortilla chips some three mix cheese and I stir that all together just about the right consistency then I put it in a 2-in pan and I cover it and I bake it just before I get ready to take it out and put a little bit more cheese on top of it and I have the absolute best tortilla chicken casserole ever. Or on a rainy day if you just need something to warm the bones you can stick right to the recipe and in like 15-20 minutes it's all ready to go just throw in some I usually throw in some extra carrots and zucchini boil it up with some chicken and it's ready to go or if you make some extra chicken you can make some shredded tacos to go with it and a bowl of soup and it really warms you right to the Bone it is so simple to work with

4.0 out of 5 stars Great gumbo, high price, hard to find in stock

    Q. · July 13, 2025

This mix makes the best gumbo I’ve ever had. I usually add shrimp and andouille sausage. I have found over the years it’s getting harder and harder to find. I don’t know if it’s a manufacturing issue or what. But as it has become more scarce, the price has gone up. I really hope it will be available in the future. I would’ve given it five stars if the price hadn’t gone up so much.
